How it Happened

  • Trailing by six (8-2) after Adelphi scored three goals over the first six minutes of the second half, Stonehill strung together three goals to pull within three (8-5) after junior Shannon Hughes third free-position goal of the afternoon with 10:31 still to play.
  • All five of Stonehill's goals came on free-position attempts, with the Skyhawks finishing 5-for-10 on the afternoon. Senior Katy Healey and junior Olivia Pino scored the first two goals of the run as the Skyhawks scored the three goals within a six-minute span.
  • Adelphi closed the win out from there, with goals from sophomore Gianna Bifolco and senior Lena Riportella in the final 1:44.
  • Hughes gave Stonehill a pair of one goal leads in the opening ten minutes with her first two free-position goals, but Adelphi had the answer within a minute of each strike, as sophomore Christina McCabe provided the second equalizer off a Riportella feed with 19:55 remaining.
  • McCabe's goal was her first of two in the opening half, to go with two assists as she led the Panthers with six points.
  • Riportella also netted three goals for Adelphi, including two in the second half, to go with an assist.
  • Senior Bailey Grant kept Stonehill in the game with 11 stops, including six in the first half.
