EASTON, Mass. (May 2, 2017) – Stonehill College freshman midfielder Jennifer Wheaton (Dartmouth, Massachusetts/Dartmouth) has earned Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors for women's lacrosse, the league announced today.

Wheaton led Stonehill to a 2-0 week to clinch home field advantage for this week's quarterfinals of the NE10 Tournament by netting a team-high nine goals to go with five draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers. She paced the Skyhawks attack in Friday night's key 18-9 win over No. 11/16 Pace University with a season-high six goals, while collecting three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Wheaton opened the week with three goals and two draws in Wednesday night's 15-11 win at Merrimack College.

Wheaton has played all 17 games, starting 16, in her first collegiate season at Stonehill and ranks second on the team with 34 points and 30 goals, while adding four assists. She also shares the team lead with 38 draw controls to go with 23 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. Wheaton enters the postseason riding a nine game point streak, having netted 13 goals over the last four games in which she has recorded multiple goals. She has scored a goal in 15 of Stonehill's 17 games this season, with ten multi-goal games.

Stonehill (11-6, 10-3 NE10), ranked No. 17 in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II poll, is back in action tomorrow night when it hosts No. 14 Pace University, also ranked 19th in the Nike/US Lacrosse Magazine Division II poll, for quarterfinal round action of the NE10 Tournament at W.B. Mason Stadium at 7 p.m. Admission for the game is $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for children and senior citizens and $1.00 for students from participating institutions. The first 200 Stonehill students in attendance tomorrow night will be admitted free of charge, courtesy of Student Affairs.
