EASTON, Mass. (May 3, 2015) – The Stonehill College women's lacrosse team, ranked sixth in this week's Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Top 20 and seventh in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) Division II poll, has earned its eighth bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament as announced by the NCAA women's lacrosse selection committee tonight.

Stonehill (15-4, 10-3 NE-10) is seeded fourth in the North Region and will face top-seeded and defending National Champions Adelphi University (18-1, 12-1 NE-10) in a national quarterfinal round matchup, on Saturday, May 9, in Garden City, N.Y., at noon. Stonehill is making its eighth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and second over the last three years. The Skyhawks are two-time national champions, winning the title in 2003 and 2005. Head Coach Katie Conover, '03, who was a senior on Stonehill's first national championship squad, earns her third NCAA Tournament bid as a head coach at her alma mater. Stonehill has also earned NCAA Tournament bids in 2001, '02, '03, '05, '07, '10 and '13.

The winner of next weekend's matchup will advance to the NCAA Division II Final Four at Kerr Stadium on the campus of Roanoke College in Roanoke, Virginia, May 16-17. Second-seeded and No. 4/5 Le Moyne College (16-3, 12-1 NE-10) will host third-seeded and No. 4/5 University of New Haven (15-3, 11-2 NE-10) in the other quarterfinal in the North Region. Adelphi, which shared the Northeast-10 Conference regular season championship with Le Moyne, won the NE-10 Tournament title with a 14-5 victory over the Dolphins in today's Conference championship game.

Stonehill and Adelphi will meet for the second straight week and third time in four weeks with Saturday's national quarterfinal. The Panthers won the first two encounters between the two with a 15-5 regular season win and then a 14-5 victory in Saturday's NE-10 semifinal. The Panthers have won the last 14 meetings between the two programs and Saturday will mark the third NCAA Tournament meeting between the two, having split the previous two encounters.
