EASTON, Mass. (May 12, 2014) – Two members of the Stonehill College women's lacrosse program have earned All-North Region honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as selected by the region's head coaches.

Senior midfielder Kelsey Shannahan (Mendham, New Jersey/Morris Catholic) and defender Katherine McDonough (Westwood, Massachusetts/Westwood) have both collected IWLCA All-North Region honors for the first time in their career for Stonehill's two honorees. Shannahan was named to the All-Region first team, while McDonough collects second team honors.

Shannahan, a two-time All-Northeast-10 selection who earned first team honors this fall, earns her first All-North Region award after starting all 19 games for Stonehill this season and leading the team with 63 points (9th NE-10) and 50 goals (8th) to go with 13 assists. She also recorded 34 ground balls, 35 draw controls and 12 caused turnovers, notching at least a point in 44 straight games dating back to her freshman season. Shannahan scored a career-high eight goals in Stonehill's 17-5 win over Southern New Hampshire University on April 2. She added a season-high seven points with five goals and two assists in a key North Region win at Dowling College on April 19.

Shannahan, a womenslacrosse.com Division II and NE-10 All-Rookie team selection as a freshman, started 57 of the 58 games she has played over her career at Stonehill and posted 118 goals and 41 assists for 159 points, while contributing 112 ground balls, 77 draw controls and 60 caused turnovers. Her 41 caused turnovers as a freshman is the third-highest single season total in program history, while her 59 ground balls that season rank eighth all-time. Shannahan has earned NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status four semesters at the College and Athletic Director's Honor Roll once.

McDonough, also a two-time All-Northeast-10 selection with first team honors this spring, earns All-North Region honors for the first time. She led a Stonehill defensive unit which ranks fifth in the NE-10 for goals against average (9.48), third in ground balls (18.4/gm) and fifth for caused turnovers (7.3). She has contributed a team-high 39 ground balls (13th NE-10) and nine caused turnovers in 17 games played this season.

McDonough has started 49 of her 61 games played over her career and has recorded 72 ground balls, 14 draw controls and 25 caused turnovers. She collected a career-high 11 ground balls in Stonehill's 11-4 win over Southern Connecticut State University on April 9 and has registered a career-best two caused turnovers on six occasions, including the Skyhawks 13-3 win over Merrimack College on April 16.

Stonehill (12-7, 9-3 NE-10), ranked 12th in the final regular season IWLCA and Lacrosse Magazine Division II polls, made its Northeast-10 record 16th-straight NE-10 Tournament appearance this season, reaching the semifinal round for the 16th time. In addition to its two All-North Region selections, the Skyhawks placed four on the All-Northeast-10 first and second teams.
