EASTON, Mass. (April 1, 2014) – Stonehill College junior goalkeeper Ashley Armstrong (Northborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for women's lacrosse by the league office.

Armstrong led Stonehill to a 2-1 week with her strong performance as the backbone of Stonehill's defensive effort. She played all 180 minutes between the pipes and recorded a 7.36 goals against average and .607 save percentage while averaging 11.3 saves per game, helping hold the opposition to a 5-for-28 (17.9%) effort on free-position attempts for the week. Armstrong opened the week with her second double-figure save effort of the season with 11 stops in an 8-7 win at Franklin Pierce University. After recording nine stops in Thursday's 14-5 win at American International College, she capped the week with a season-high 14 saves, including eight on free-position shots, in Saturday's 10-4 setback to Adelphi University, ranked No. 2 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) poll.

Armstrong has played all but two minutes and 20-seconds in the Stonehill goal this season and has posted a 10.43 goals against average (7th NE-10) and .451 save percentage (7th) while averaging 8.6 saves per game (4th) in 483:03 (3rd) over eight starts. She also ranks 22nd nationally in Division II for saves per game and 25th in total saves. Armstrong has recorded three double figure save outings and has also chipped in with nine ground balls and two caused turnovers for the season.

Armstrong has started 37 of the 41 games she has played over her three seasons at Stonehill. She has posted a 10.59 goals against average and .434 save percentage with 303 saves and a 24-14 record. She currently ranks fifth all-time in program history for career saves, while her 131 saves in 2013 is the sixth-highest single-season total in program history, and her 103 stops in 2012 ranks tenth. Armstrong has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll three semesters and Athletic Director's Honor Roll once, earning a spot on the NE-10 All-Championship team during the 2012 tournament. She recorded a career-high 16 saves at Rollins College in 2012.
