Green and Reilly voted to All-North Region first team, while Sullivan collects second team honors
EASTON, Mass. (May 7, 2013) – Three Stonehill College seniors have earned All-North Region honors by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) the membership announced today. The student-athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-America teams.
Senior All-American Kelsey Reilly (Hingham, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) and classmate Kayla Green (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) have both been selected to the IWLCA All-North Region first team, while fellow senior Heather Sullivan (Andover, Mass./Andover) has been named to the All-Region second team.
Reilly, an All-America selection each of the last two seasons, All-North Region honors for the third straight year after also being named the Northeast-10 Conference's Midfielder of the Year and a first team All-Conference pick for a third straight year. She has started all 19 games for Stonehill this season and is fourth on the team in scoring with 55 points (14th NE-10) on 38 goals (18th) and 17 assists (15th), while surpassing 100 draw controls for the second straight season with a Conference-best 109 this year (8th nationally in Division II) to go with 37 ground balls (15th NE-10) and a team-high 23 caused turnovers (7th NE-10).
Reilly, a consensus All-America selection her sophomore season who also earned second team honors from synapsesports.com following her junior season, is the latest of 14 players in program history to surpass 200 career points and the third this season. Reilly has totaled 143 goals and 65 assists for 208 points to go with 303 draw controls, 187 ground balls and 110 caused turnovers in 73 career games played. Her 120 draw controls as a junior shattered the program record.
Green, who earned All-Northeast-10 first team honors for the second-straight year last week, earns All-North Region honors for the second straight year as well with her first selection to the first team. She leads Stonehill with 63 goals (5th NE-10), including two gamewinners, and 22 assists (6th) for a team-best 85 points (3rd) to go with 18 ground balls, 13 draw controls and five caused turnovers. She is ranked 11th nationally in Division II for goals scored and 13th in scoring. Her 63 goals this season rank fifth on Stonehill's single-season list, while her 85 points are good for ninth.
Green has collected NE-10 Academic All-Conference accolades and received the Saint Thomas Aquinas Medal for having the highest cumulative grade point average on the team twice over her career. She became the 12th player in program history to surpass 200 career points earlier this spring and has now totaled 178 goals and 58 assists for 236 points in 74 career games played. Green now ranks seventh in program history for career goals and points. She has also earned the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award two straight years and has been named to both the NE-10 Commissioner's and Athletic Director's honor rolls every semester.
Sullivan earns All-North Region honors for the first time with her second team selection after collecting second team All-NE-10 honors for the second-straight season last week. She has started all 18 games she has played this year and is second on the team with 72 points (7th NE-10) and 59 goals (6th), including a team-high three gamewinners, dishing out 13 assists and converting 13-of-25 free-position shots to go with 34 ground balls, 23 draw controls and 11 caused turnovers. Sullivan ranks 16th nationally for goals scored and 33rd in scoring and her goal total from the season ranks ninth on the program's single-season list.
Sullivan, who became the 13th 200 point scorer in program history earlier this season, has started 70 of the 72 games she has played over her career and totaled 187 goals and 38 assists for 225 points, adding 115 ground balls, 74 draw controls and 28 caused turnovers. She ranks sixth in program history for goals scored and eighth for points. Sullivan earned NE-10 Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career on April 15.
Stonehill (13-6, 10-2 NE-10), ranked ninth in this week's IWLCA Division II poll, has earned its seventh NCAA Tournament bid in program history and the fourth-seeded Skyhawks visit top-seeded and defending national champions LIU Post (17-0, 7-0 ECC) for a national quarterfinal matchup on Saturday at 11 a.m.
