Sullivan Named NE-10 Player of the Week

Andover, Mass., senior earns weekly honor for first time

EASTON, Mass. (April 15, 2013) – Stonehill College senior attack Heather Sullivan (Andover, Mass./Andover) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for women's lacrosse by the league office today.

Sullivan earns NE-10 Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career after scoring 14 goals for 14 points in a 2-1 week for Stonehill, also collecting five ground balls and three draw controls for the week. Sullivan opened the week with three goals in an important 13-10 victory over 12th-ranked Bentley University on Tuesday night. She followed that up with a season-high matching six goals, including her 200th career point, in Thursday's 18-6 victory at Southern Connecticut State University. She closed the week with a game-high matching five goals to go with two ground balls and two draw controls in Saturday's tough 15-12 setback to top-ranked LIU Post.

Sullivan has started all 13 games she has played this season and leads Stonehill with 47 goals (2nd NE-10) to go with nine assists for 56 points (6th), ranking second on the team in scoring. She has converted a team-best 11-of-20 free position goals (5th) and shares the team lead with two gamewinning goals and has also collected 26 ground balls (19th) and 20 draw controls with eight caused turnovers. Sullivan ranks tenth nationally in Division II for goals scored, 14th for goals per game (3.62) and 27th in points.

Sullivan has started 65 of 67 games played over her career, becoming the 13th 200-point scorer in program history last week as she joined classmate Kayla Green (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) who recorded her 200th point earlier in the win at Southern Connecticut State. Sullivan ranks tenth in program history with her 209 career points, ranking sixth all-time at Stonehill with her 175 career goals to go with 34 assists. She has also totaled nine career gamewinning goals, converted 39-of-83 free-position shots and posted 107 ground balls, 71 draw controls and 25 caused turnovers.

Sullivan earned second team All-Northeast-10 honors as a junior following a breakout 2012 season in which she ranked sixth among NE-10 leaders for free-position goals (13-for-35), eighth in goals (55) and 13th for points (63), ranking 21st nationally for goals scored.. She was named NE-10 Freshman of the Week once in her rookie season and has earned NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll accolades two semesters.

Stonehill (9-5, 8-2 NE-10), ranked 11th in last week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II poll, is back in action on Wednesday when it visits Merrimack College for an NE-10 matchup at 7 p.m. The Skyhawks return home on Saturday to host 10th-ranked Dowling College for a key regional clash on Senior Day at W.B. Mason Stadium at 11 a.m.
