Lynott Earns All-Championship Team Honors for NE-10 Tournament

Holbrook, N.Y., native recognized for efforts in Skyhawks 14th-straight semifinal appearance

EASTON, Mass. (May 9, 2012) – Stonehill College senior All-American Samantha Lynott (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) earned All-Championship team honors for her performance at the 2012 Northeast-10 Conference women's lacrosse tournament won by second-seeded and No. 2-ranked Adelphi University over the weekend in Syracuse, N.Y.

Lynott posted six goals and two assists for eight points over third-seeded Stonehill's two games in the NE-10 Tournament, while also totaling six draw controls, five ground balls and three caused turnovers. In Wednesday's 15-3 first round win over sixth-seeded and No. 13 Merrimack College, she totaled four points on three goals and an assist with four ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Lynott followed that up with three goals and an assist for four points again, adding three draw controls in Saturday's heartbreaking 12-11 overtime loss to Adelphi in the semifinals.

Lynott, who has earned second team All-Conference honors for the third straight season, started 14 of the 15 games she played this spring. She finished third on the team with 62 points (16th NE-10) on 44 goals (15th) and 18 assists (17th), while also contributing 48 draw controls (11th), 31 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers (16th). In NE-10 play, she posted 23 goals and nine assists for 32 points over eight games, adding 19 draw controls, 18 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers (14th). Lynott was second on the team with 42 points in 12 games played against ranked opponents, totaling 30 goals and 12 assists with 45 draw controls, 21 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.

Lynott, who earned NE-10 Player of the Week honors once this spring, became the 11th player in program history to reach 200 career points during an eight point outing against Southern New Hampshire University on April 18. She is a two-time All-America selection by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), also earning Capital One Academic All-District I third team honors as a junior, having posted a 3.46 cumulative grade point average as a criminology major. Lynott, a two-time IWLCA All-North Region first team pick, finished her career at the College with 163 goals and 68 assists for 231 points in 67 games. She ranks sixth in program history for career goals, seventh for points and eighth for assists and also totaled 136 draw controls, 118 ground balls and 72 caused turnovers. She has earned NE-10 and Athletic Director's Honor Roll status multiple semesters and was recently named the Fr. William Gartland, CSC, Female Senior Student-Athlete of the Year at the annual Senior Awards Banquet at Stonehill.

Stonehill (14-5, 10-2 NE-10) is ranked sixth in this week's IWLCA Division II poll. The Skyhawks capped their season with an NE-10 record 14th-straight trip to the semifinal round of the NE-10 Tournament. Stonehill played 13 games against nationally-ranked teams this season, posting an 8-5 record.
