Lynott becomes programs 11^th 200-point scorer in eight point effort

Senior All-American Samantha Lynott (Holbrook, N.Y./East Sachem) led the Stonehill offense with eight points, including the 200^th of her career, as she finished with five goals and three assists. She becomes the 11^th student-athlete in program history to eclipse the 200 point plateau, with her total today giving her 144 goals and 61 assists for 205 points in 61 career games. Lynott, who also contributed six ground balls and a team-high five caused turnovers, now ranks tenth all-time for points and ninth for goals and assists in Stonehill history.

Junior Kayla Green (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) netted a team-high six goals for Stonehill, while junior All-American Kelsey Reilly (Hingham, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) added four goals and three assists for seven points with ten draw controls, eight ground balls and three caused turnovers. Classmate Heather Sullivan (Andover, Mass./Andover) contributed five goals and an assist for six points, converting 2-of-4 free-position opportunities, while senior All-American Sarah Galligan (West Newbury, Mass./Pentucket Regional) chipped in with two goals and three assists for five points, with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Freshman Ashley Armstrong (Northborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) finished with ten saves in goal for Stonehill to improve to 5-1 on the year. The Skyhawks posted a 53-23 shots advantage, including 41-20 on goal, while forcing 29 SNHU turnovers and holding the Penmen to 8-for-16 on clear attempts. Freshman Kellie Renk (Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk) made 15 stops in the goal for the Penmen.

Sophomore Ellie Morin (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) led Southern New Hampshire with six goals and two assists for eight points, while adding nine draw controls and three ground balls. Senior Emily Mongeau (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) posted a goal and three assists with seven draw controls and six ground balls.

The contest was tight until Stonehill reeled off the final five goals of the first half to take a 14-9 lead into halftime as part of its nine goal run that opened an 18-9 lead after a Sullivan goal, assisted by Lynott, with 21:30 left in the second half. Galligan assisted on three of the Skyhawks five goals to close out the first frame, while Green netted two goals and Reilly chipped in a goal and assist.

Green scored five of Stonehill's nine goals in that stretch in all, including three-straight, in a span of 1:42, to open the second half. Sullivan chipped in a goal and assist over the Skyhawks first four markers in the second half.

Morin followed with her sixth goal of the contest with 19:29 to play, but that would be the last Penmen goal of the afternoon as Stonehill scored the final eight goals to win going away. Sophomore Mary Lee Mahony (Yardley, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) had two goals and an assist over that stretch, while Sullivan scored twice and Lynott chipped in a goal and assist.

Southern New Hampshire took the lead on four different occasions in the opening 15 minutes of the first half. Morin netted the first goal 1:13 into the contest and had four of the Penmen's first five markers, including two-straight that erased Stonehill's first lead of the night and knotted the score at 5-5 with 15:50 left in half. She then set up sophomore Phoebe Clark (Concord, N.H./Concord) to put SNHU up for a fourth time with 15:26 to go.

Lynott answered with two-straight to regain the lead for Stonehill. Sophomore Kayleigh Dube (Bourne, Mass./Bourne) tied the game (7-7) for the sixth time for SNHU with 13:36 to go in the half, Lynott put the Skyhawks in front just 22-seconds later with her third goal of the half, marking her 200^th point with 13:14 remaining.

After Lynott set up Reilly for Stonehill's second two-goal cushion of the half, Morin assisted on a Mongeau marker with 8:43 to play and then scored a free-position goal 28-seconds later to force the final tie of the afternoon. Reilly sparked the Skyhawks closing run with a goal, assisted by Galligan, with 6:05 left in the half.

Stonehill (11-2, 9-1 NE-10) hits the road this weekend for a pair of non-conference matchups against nationally-ranked teams starting with a clash at 5^th-ranked LIU-C.W. Post on Saturday at 10 a.m. The Skyhawks return home next Tuesday to host Assumption College for an NE-10 matchup on Senior Night at 7 p.m. Southern New Hampshire (3-10, 2-8 NE-10) hosts American International College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
