Skyhawks ready to battle seventh ranked opponent of the season as reigning National Champions visit W.B. Mason Stadium

Stonehill (9-1, 7-0 NE-10), winners of its last seven following a 19-5 triumph at Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday, will battle its seventh ranked opponent of the year tomorrow in Adelphi, who has won each of the last three NCAA Championships. The Skyhawks have gone 5-1 against ranked opposition, including a 2-1 clip against top ten teams, with the lone loss a 14-13 overtime setback at 4^th-ranked Rollins College who remains perfect at 12-0 and has since moved up to No. 3 in the country. Stonehill posted a pair of wins against top ten opponents last week, with a 17-8 victory at 8^th-ranked Bentley University and a 13-12 triumph at 7^th-ranked University of New Haven.

Adelphi (8-1, 5-1 NE-10) has won three straight after suffering its lone defeat of the year with an 11-10 setback to top-ranked Le Moyne College in an NE-10 clash on March 21. The Panthers are coming off a 23-7 victory over American International College on Wednesday. Adelphi is 2-1 against ranked opposition this season, posting victories over 14^th-ranked Molloy (15-10) on March 1 and 15^th-ranked Saint Anselm College (22-12) on March 24. The Panthers are averaging a Division II best 19.78 goals per game this season, while yielding 8.56 goals per game (3^rd NE-10/8^th nationally).

These two teams have combined to win all 13 NE-10 regular season championships, and 11 of the 13 tournament titles since the Conference began sponsoring women's lacrosse in 1999. Stonehill won the first 11 regular season titles from 1999-2009, while also capturing the tournament crown nine-straight years from 2000-2008 and winning a pair of NCAA Division II Championships along the way in 2003 and 2005. Adelphi has won the last two NE-10 regular season championships since joining the Conference in 2010, also capturing back-to-back tournament titles and has won five National Championships all-time.

Stonehill ranks third in the NE-10 (10^th nationally) in scoring with 16.60 goals per game, while ranking fourth (10^th nationally) in scoring defense by yielding just 8.90 goals per contest. The Skyhawks, who led Division II in caused turnovers in 2011, are 14^th this season (6^th NE-10) with 9.7, while also ranking ninth with 15.1 draw controls (3^rd) and tenth with a 7.70 scoring margin (4^th). Stonehill is averaging 16.0 goals per game against ranked opponents this year, while allowing 11.17.

            Junior Kayla Green (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) leads Stonehill with 39 points (9^th NE-10) on 27 goals (11^th) and a team-high 12 assists (10^th), while classmate Heather Sullivan (Andover, Mass./Andover) has netted a team-best 34 goals (5^th) to go with four assists for 38 points (10^th). Sullivan has also totaled 15 ground balls and 13 draw controls. Sullivan and Green have both totaled 23 points in the Skyhawks six games against ranked teams this year, with Sullivan totaling 21 of her 34 goals in those games, while Green has 16 goals and seven assists.

Junior All-American Kelsey Reilly (Hingham, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) has contributed 22 goals (17^th) and eight assists for 30 points (19^th) to go with a team-high 61 draw controls (2^nd), 28 ground balls (10^th) and 16 caused turnovers (7^th). Senior All-American Samantha Lynott (Holbrook, N.Y./East Sachem), who missed four games due to injury, has returned and has totaled 17 goals and eight assists for  25 points with 19 draw controls. Sophomore Mary Lee Mahony (Yardley, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) has chipped in 14 goals and 11 assists (12^th) for 25 points.

Junior Jessica Guisti (Walpole, Mass./Northfield Mount Hermon) leads the Stonehill defensive unit with 19 caused turnovers (5^th) and 31 ground balls (6^th), while also contributing eight draw controls in ten games this season. Junior All-American Rebecca Moore (Marlborough, Mass./St. Mark's School) is the backbone of the defense, having played 339:02 in the Skyhawks goal over seven games, posting a 6-0 record. She has registered a Conference-low 7.61 goals against average (4^th nationally) and .494 save percentage (3^rd NE-10), while averaging six saves per game. Moore is 3-0 in her four appearances against ranked opposition, posting a 10.79 GAA and .460 save percentage in 189:02.

Adelphi senior Erica Devito (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) leads the Northeast-10 with 60 points (4^th nationally) and 27 assists (7^th) to go with a team-high 33 goals (6^th NE-10 ) through just nine games this season. Sophomore Devan Crimi (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) has added 28 goals (10^th NE-10) and ten assists for 38 points (11^th), while junior Sara Sangiorgio (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) has contributed 27 goals (11^th) and four assists for 31 points.

Senior Marissa Mills (Islip, N.Y./Islip) leads the Panthers with 23 draw controls to go with 17 ground balls, 25 goals and four assists for 29 points. Junior Meg Brown (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) has a team-high 25 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers (13^th) with 19 draw controls, 16 goals and eight assists for 24 points. Sophomore Jordann Dempsey (Sparks, Md./Hereford) has seen the majority of time in goal for Adelphi and has posted an 8.36 goals against average (4^th NE-10/9^th nationally) and .386 save percentage in 444:57 over nine games, averaging 4.3 saves per game.

Tomorrow will mark the 14^th meeting all-time between these two programs. Adelphi holds an 8-5 advantage in the series, having won each of the last six meetings. The Panthers topped Stonehill 20-14 in Garden City, N.Y., during the lone meeting of the year between the two last season. All-American Sarah Galligan (West Newbury, Mass./Pentucket Regional) paced the Stonehill offense with a season-high six goals to help the Skyhawks close the gap on an early deficit, but Adelphi strung together a 5-1 scoring run in the final ten minutes to hold on for the win. Claire Petersen led Adelphi with 12 points on five goals and seven assists.

Tomorrow's contest opens a season-high three game home stand for Stonehill as the Skyhawks will welcome 11^th-ranked Merrimack College to W.B. Mason Stadium on Thursday (7 p.m.), before hosting Southern New Hampshire University on Wednesday, April 18, at 4 p.m.
