Anderson, O'Leary, Kerwin, Lanagan will represent Skyhawks on North Region squad

EASTON, Mass. (June 2, 2011) – All four senior members of the Stonehill College women's lacrosse team have been selected to represent the Skyhawks in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II North-South Senior All-Star Game, to be played at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pa., on June 11.

Attacker Hannah Anderson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) and defenders Devin O'Leary (Framingham, Mass./Framingham), Emily Kerwin (Bristol, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey), and Christine Lanagan (North Dartmouth, Mass./Bishop Stang), will take the field for the North Region team to face the senior All-Stars from the South Region. The Skyhawks' class of 2011 posted a 52-17 overall record over the past four seasons, including a 39-4 mark in Northeast-10 Conference play; captured the NE-10 tournament title in 2008; and earned the program's sixth NCAA tournament bid in 2010.

Anderson ranked second on the team in scoring this season with a career-high 53 goals and 16 assists for 69 points on attack. She was also among the Skyhawks' top free-position shooters, sharing the team lead with 12 goals from the eight-meter arc. In her top scoring performance of the season, Anderson poured in a career-best eight goals and picked up an assist for a nine-point day against Bentley University on March 29, matching the second-highest single-game scoring total in program history to power the Skyhawks to a 21-5 win.

In 40 career games for Stonehill, Anderson totaled 109 goals and 38 assist for 147 career points, and collected 57 ground balls, 39 draw controls, and 22 caused turnovers.

O'Leary, an IWLCA All-North Region honoree in 2009, earned her first career NE-10 All-Conference selection this season as co-captain of a Stonehill squad which limited opponents to an average of 7.89 goals per game, ranking third in the NE-10 and sixth nationally in Division II. O'Leary collected 15 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers in 16 games for the Skyhawks, also picking up a pair of assists. She recorded a season-high three ground balls and three caused turnovers as the Skyhawks rolled over Saint Michael's College 20-1 on March 8, the first of three games in which they would hold opponents to a single goal.

O'Leary has started 55 of 65 career games, totaling 76 ground balls, 57 caused turnovers, six goals, and 17 assists.

A two-time IWLCA All-North Region selection, Kerwin posted career highs on defense this spring with 42 caused turnovers, sixth among all players in Division II, and 48 ground balls. Her 42 caused turnovers are the second-highest single-season mark in program history, and she established new single-game career bests of seven ground balls and six caused turnovers. Kerwin turned in her top defensive performance in the Skyhawks' 11-9 victory over then-sixth-ranked C.W. Post on April 16, scooping seven ground balls and causing five turnovers to help Stonehill topple the Pioneers for the first time since 2005.

Kerwin played 63 career games for the Skyhawks, collecting 105 ground balls and causing 72 turnovers.

Lanagan also turned in a career year on defense with 23 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers this spring, co-captaining the Skyhawks to their best team goals-against average in three seasons. Lanagan notched a career-high four caused turnovers to help Stonehill get past Merrimack College 11-10 on March 10, and collected three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls as the Skyhawks allowed a single goal to American International College in a 20-1 win on April 14. In 2010, she led all Stonehill regulars in committing just four turnovers all season.

In 51 career games, Lanagan totaled 41 ground balls, 28 caused turnovers, and 15 draw controls, and chipped in four goals and an assist.

Stonehill (15-4, 10-2 NE-10), ranked ninth in the final IWLCA Division II national poll, posted their highest win total in four seasons and earned the third seed in the NE-10 Women's Lacrosse Championship, where the Skyhawks fell in the semifinal round to eventual national semifinalist Le Moyne College.
