Lynott earns second consecutive IWLCA selection

EASTON, Mass. (May 27, 2011) – Stonehill College sophomore midfielder Kelsey Reilly (Hingham, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) and junior attacker Sam Lynott (Holbrook, N.Y./East Sachem) have earned Division II All-America honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and Womenslacrosse.com. Reilly becomes a consensus All-American with second team honors from both the IWLCA and Womenslacrosse.com, and Lynott earns her second consecutive selection to the IWLCA All-America second team.
Reilly caps her breakout sophomore season for Stonehill with her first career All-America honors, earning second team recognition from the IWLCA and Womenslacrosse.com. In 18 games this season, Reilly scored a career-high 36 goals with nine assists for 45 points, caused a career-best 34 turnovers to rank 16th among all players in Division II, and collected 40 ground balls and 35 draw controls. Earlier this month she was selected to the IWLCA All-North Region and Northeast-10 All-Conference first teams for her first postseason awards as a Skyhawk.
Reilly’s top scoring performance of the season came in Stonehill's 22-2 victory over Franklin Pierce University on April 6, when she matched her single-game career high with six goals and added an assist for a seven-point day. She also recorded defensive season highs in a 20-1 rout of American International College on April 14, leading all players with six ground balls and four caused turnovers as the Skyhawks limited their opponents to a single goal for the third time in their first 12 games. Stonehill ranked sixth in Division II in scoring defense this spring, averaging 7.89 goals allowed per game, and led the country in caused turnovers with 14.89 per game.

Starting 33 of 35 career games for the Skyhawks, Reilly has totaled 64 goals with 27 assists for 92 points, and recorded 89 ground balls and 63 caused turnovers.
Lynott is a second team IWLCA All-American for the second consecutive year. The Skyhawks’ leading scorer this season, Lynott ranked fifth in the NE-10 and 12th in Division II in goals scored, netting a career-high 59 goals and 23 assists for 82 points to power the sixth-ranked offense in the country as Stonehill poured in an average of 16.26 goals per game. She also caused a career-high 29 turnovers and collected 38 ground balls, and served as the Skyhawks' primary target off the draw with a team-leading 50 draw controls.
A two-time IWLCA All-North Region and NE-10 All-Conference selection, Lynott was named to the Capital One Academic All-District I at-large third team earlier this week in recognition of her athletic and academic achievement. A first-time Academic All-District honoree, Lynott has earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.46 as a criminology major at Stonehill, and is a three-year member of both the NE-10 Commissioner’s and Stonehill Athletic Director’s Honor Rolls.
In 52 career games, Lynott is the Skyhawks' active scoring leader with 119 goals and 50 assists for 169 total points, and ranks ninth on the Stonehill career scoring list through three seasons.
Stonehill (15-4, 10-2 NE-10), ranked ninth in the final IWLCA Division II national poll, posted their highest win total in four seasons and earned the third seed in the NE-10 Women's Lacrosse Championship, where the Skyhawks fell in the semifinal round to eventual national semifinalist Le Moyne College.
