Reilly earns first team selection; Kerwin, Lynott, Galligan voted to second team

EASTON, Mass. (May 23, 2011) – Four members of the Stonehill College women's lacrosse team, ranked ninth in the final Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II national poll, have been selected to the IWLCA All-North Region Team. Sophomore Kelsey Reilly (Hingham, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) was named to the first team; senior Emily Kerwin (Bristol, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey) and juniors Sam Lynott (Holbrook, N.Y./East Sachem) and Sarah Galligan (West Newbury, Mass./Pentucket Regional) earned second team honors.

Reilly earns her first career All-Region selection following a breakout sophomore season for Stonehill. In 18 games this season, Reilly emerged as one of the Northeast-10 Conference's top midfielders as she scored a career-high 36 goals with nine assists for 45 points, caused a career-best 34 turnovers, and collected 40 ground balls and 35 draw controls. Her performance landed her on the All-Conference first team as Reilly earned her first postseason award. In 35 games through her two seasons with the Skyhawks, Reilly has totaled 64 goals and 27 assists for 92 points, and recorded 89 ground balls, 74 draw controls and 63 caused turnovers.

Kerwin becomes a two-time All-Region honoree as a repeat selection to the second team. She turned in a career year on defense this spring with 42 caused turnovers, sixth among all players in Division II, and 48 ground balls. Kerwin helped lead the Stonehill defense to an average of 7.89 goals allowed per game, ranking third in the NE-10 and sixth nationally in Division II, and the Skyhawks' best mark in three seasons. She earned her first All-Conference selection earlier this month, and concludes her Stonehill career with 105 ground balls and 72 caused turnovers in 63 games.

Lynott also earns her second career All-Region selection, after she was a first team honoree last season. She was the Skyhawks' top scorer this year with a career-best 59 goals and 23 assists for 82 points, ranking fifth in the NE-10 and 12th nationally in Division II in scoring. Lynott earned All-Conference recognition for the second straight year as one of the NE-10's most productive attackers, leading the Stonehill offense to an average of 16.26 goals scored per game, sixth in Division II. An IWLCA All-American in 2010, Lynott is the Skyhawks' active scoring leader with 119 career goals, ranking ninth on the Stonehill career scoring list through three seasons.

Galligan collects All-Region honors for the first time with her second team selection. A womenslacrosse.com Division II All-American last season, Galligan ranked third on the team in scoring this spring with 46 goals and 10 assists for 56 points. She led the team in caused turnovers with 43, the highest single-season total in program history, and ranked third among all players in Division II in the category as the Skyhawks led the nation in caused turnovers with 14.89 per game. Galligan also scooped 53 ground balls and 42 draw controls, and shot a team-best .522 from the eight-meter arc. With 113 career goals, Galligan stands 11th on the Skyhawks' career scoring list.

Stonehill (15-4, 10-2 NE-10) posted their highest win total in four seasons and earned the third seed in the NE-10 Women's Lacrosse Championship, where the Skyhawks fell in the semifinal round to eventual national semifinalist Le Moyne College.
