Sophomore is dominant in net as Skyhawks win ninth straight

EASTON, Mass. (April 4, 2011) – Stonehill College sophomore Rebecca Moore (Marlborough, Mass./St. Mark's School) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week by the conference office for the second time this season.

Moore backstopped Stonehill to three key conference victories this week, allowing just 16 goals and making 23 saves as the Skyhawks improved to 6-0 in the NE-10 and 9-0 overall. She stopped a week-high ten shots to hold Bentley University to five goals on Tuesday, and matched it Thursday with five goals allowed to Saint Anselm College. Moore wrapped up the week by limiting the University of New Haven, who entered the game averaging 13.29 goals per game, to just six goals to earn her ninth decision in net and hold her opponents to a single-digit goal total for the eighth time in nine games.

Moore's performance during the week lowers her goals-against average to 5.63, the best mark nationally in Division II. She also ranks second in the country with a .591 save percentage. The Skyhawks currently field the top-ranked defense in the nation, limiting opponents to 5.44 goals per game.

During Moore's outstanding freshman season in 2010, she was named to the Womenslacrosse.com All-America and All-Rookie squads, and was an NE-10 All-Conference and All-Rookie honoree.

Stonehill, currently ranked sixth in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II national poll, hosts Franklin Pierce University in an NE-10 matchup on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
