Sophomore ranks among top Division II goalies

EASTON, Mass. (March 15, 2011) – Stonehill College sophomore Rebecca Moore (Marlborough, Mass./St. Mark's School) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week by the conference office for the week of March 7-13.

Moore earns the honor for the first time this season after posting a 5.50 goals against average in a 2-0 week for Stonehill as the Skyhawks opened their NE-10 schedule. She allowed just one goal in a 20-1 victory over Saint Michael's College on Tuesday, her lowest career single-game total, and followed with 13 saves in an 11-10 victory Thursday over Merrimack College. With Stonehill and Merrimack tied at 10 late in the game, Moore made four saves, including one on a free-position shot, to shut out the Warriors over the final 15 minutes and help set up teammate Jessica Guisti's game-winning goal with four minutes remaining.

Through the first two weeks of the season, Moore is tied for first nationally in Division II in save percentage with a .611 mark, and ranks second in goals against average at 5.60. During her decorated freshman season in 2010, she was named to the Womenslacrosse.com All-America and All-Rookie squads, and was an NE-10 All-Conference and All-Rookie honoree.

Stonehill, currently ranked ninth in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II national poll, visits Rollins College for a non-conference game this afternoon at 4 p.m.
