EASTON, Mass. (April 13, 2010) – Two members of the Stonehill College women’s lacrosse team, ranked seventh in this week’s Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Association (IWLCA) Division II poll, have earned weekly honors from the Northeast-10 Conference for the second-straight week.

Sophomore midfielder Sarah Galligan (West Newbury, Mass./Pentucket Regional) was named the Northeast-10’s Player of the Week for the second-straight week, while goalkeeper Rebecca Moore (Marlborough, Mass./Saint Mark’s School) earned NE-10 Freshman of the Week accolades for the second-straight week after also earning Goalkeeper of the Week honors last week as well. It marks the third-straight week a Stonehill lacrosse player has collected NE-10 Freshman of the Week honors, with Moore joining classmate Heather Sullivan (Andover, Mass./Andover) who was named Freshman of the Week on March 29.

Galligan totaled 12 goals and six assists for 18 points in a 3-0 week for Stonehill. She scored one game-winning goal and also added 18 ground balls, two draw controls and nine caused turnovers for the week. Galligan opened the week with four goals and an assist in Tuesday’s 19-3 victory at rival Bentley University. She led the Skyhawks past Saint Anselm College on Thursday night with five goals and an assist, also posting season-highs with seven ground balls and five caused turnovers in the 20-7 win. She matched her career-high with seven points on three goals and a career-best four assists in Saturday’s 15-4 win at Franklin Pierce University.

Galligan has started all nine matches this season for Stonehill and leads the team with 30 goals (5th NE-10) to go with ten assists for a team-high 40 points (9th ppg). She and teammate Samantha Lynott (Holbrook, N.Y./East Sachem) share the Conference lead with three game-winning goals and Galligan has also contributed 35 ground balls (5th NE-10/gm), 18 caused turnovers and five draw controls.

Over her two year career with the Skyhawks, Galligan has totaled 46 goals and 12 assists for 58 points in 24 career games played. She also has four game-winning goals, 51 ground balls, 27 caused turnovers and ten draw controls.

Moore posted a 4.83 goals against average and .562 save percentage while averaging six saves per game to backbone the defensive unit in Stonehill’s 3-0 week. She yielded just three goals in 54-minutes of action in Tuesday’s 19-3 triumph at Bentley, stopping seven shots and collecting three ground balls. Moore conceded only seven goals, making four saves in Thursday’s 20-7 victory over Saint Anselm and then closed out the week by limiting Franklin Pierce to just four goals, posting seven saves on Saturday.

Moore has played nearly every minute in goal in her first collegiate season at Stonehill. She has posted an 8.31 goals against average (2nd NE-10) and .538 save percentage (2nd) while averaging 9.56 saves per game (9th) in 534:01 played over nine starts.

Stonehill (8-1, 6-1 NE-10), winners of seven-straight, is back in action on Wednesday night when it hosts Southern Connecticut State University for an NE-10 matchup at W.B. Mason Stadium at 7 p.m. The Skyhawks close out the week at American International College on Saturday at noon.
