Skyhawks and SNHU Meet Under the Lights
Easton, Mass. - The Stonehill College Women's Lacrosse team (6-1, 4-0 Northeast-10 Conference) is ready to host their second consecutive Conference game with the Penmen of Southern N.H. (6-4, 5-0 Northeast-10 Conference). The game pins the number one team in the Conference standings, SNHU, against the second place Skyhawks in a midseason showdown between two undefeated teams.
In Wednesday night's match up, the Skyhawks received some unlikely help from freshman Hannah Anderson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie). Anderson's three second-half goals and two assists helped the Purple and White turn a 6-5 deficit into a 14-8 road victory. Sophomore Liza Gross (Loundonville, N.Y./Shaker) matched Anderson with five points of her own, coming from four goals and an assist.
Southern N.H. is led by one of the Northeast-10's premiere goaltenders, Katie Clark. Clark stands fourth in the Conference with a 12.78 goals-against average. She has posted a .444 save percentage with 10.22 saves per contest. Clark, a 5'3" junior from Norwich, Conn. will have the daunting task of controlling a Skyhawk offense that leads the NE-10 with 17.33 goals-per game.
The Skyhawks are 5-0 since their first match up with Southern N.H. in 2004. In the teams' five contests, Stonehill has outscored the Penmen, 105-18.
Game time has been scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium.
