Easton, Mass. - The New Haven Chargers (5-1, 1-1 East Coast Conference) claimed an 11-10 non-conference victory over the Stonehill Skyhawks (3-1, 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference) Thursday evening at W.B. Mason Stadium.  The Skyhawks allowed eight goals from free position shots - six of them in the second half to quickly flip a 7-2 lead into at halftime to an 11-10 defeat.  This is the first loss at home for the Purple and White since April 27th, when the Skyhawks fell to top ranked C.W. Post, 7-5.

Stonehill opened an early two goal lead thanks to sophomore Liza Gross (Loundonville, N.Y./Shaker), who scored twice early to put the host team up comfortably, 4-1.  Gross added a free position score and an assist to give the Skyhawks a six goal lead 30 seconds into the second half.

The Skyhawks, who averaged 18.33 goals per game, could only muster three second-period goals from Mary Maloney (Great River, N.Y./St. Anthony's), Hannah Anderson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) and Christa LaRocco (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip).  The Chargers took the lead with 39 seconds remaining, as sophomore Sarah LeGoff claimed her second goal of the half.  Stonehill allowed six free position goals in second half on their way to being outscored 9-3.

Senior captain Kristin Darrell (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) scored twice and added an assist for the Skyhawks.  Darrell also led the team with four ground balls in defeat.  Sophomores Jackie Craig (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) and Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) each had three caused turnovers, as well.

The Skyhawks will look to right the ship this weekend when they travel to Franklin Pierce to take on the Ravens in a Northeast-10 Conference match up.  Saturday's game is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
