SUFFERN, N.Y.-- Sophomore Michelle Kelly (Mendham, N.J.) netted six goals and added a pair of assists for eight points as fourth-ranked Stonehill remained unbeaten with a 19-5 non-league college women's lacrosse victory over St. Thomas Aquinas Thursday evening at Torne Valley Stadium.

The visiting Skyhawks (10-0) used five unanswered markers midway through the opening half to take a 9-3 advantage at the break, and Stonehill scored the first nine goals after intermission in nearly 22 minutes of action to open up an 18-3 edge in the closing minutes of play. Sophomore Michelle Salmon (East Islip, N.Y.) added four goals for the winners, who also received a pair of goals and two assists from junior All-America Kristin Darrell (West Islip, N.Y.) as well as a marker and five assists off the stick of senior Tracey Hoffman (Nashua, N.H.). Sophomores Mary Maloney (Great River, N.Y.) and Rebecca Cottam (Belmont, Mass.) each chipped in with two goals for the Skyhawks, who also received a goal and two assists from freshman Liza Gross (Loudonville, N.Y.) as well as a goal and an assist from junior Christa LaRocco (West Islip, N.Y.).

Junior Kim DeLorenzo (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) netted a goal and an assist in the setback for the host Spartans (2-6), who also received single tallies off the sticks of senior Taryn Brechbiel (Garnerville, N.Y.), juniors Summer Terpak (Haverstraw, N.Y.) and Aime Colon (Nanuet, N.Y.) and sophomore Jennifer Bruen (Tappan, N.Y.) as well as an assist from junior Katelyn McDonagh (Theills, N.Y.).

Junior Amanda McGeachey (Saco, Maine) picked up her 10th win of the season in goal for Stonehill with a seven-save effort, while freshman Kailey Brown (Madison, Conn.) also made seven stops in net for St. Thomas Aquinas as the Skyhawks outshot the Spartans by a 35-12 margin in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The triumph also enabled Stonehill to reach double-digits in the win column, as the Skyhawks have accomplished that feat in each of their nine varsity seasons of play (132-25 overall).

Stonehill heads to Garden City, N.Y. on Sunday afternoon for a key non-league regional showdown with third-ranked Adelphi beginning at Noon, as the two teams have alternated as NCAA Division II national champions in each of the last four years. St. Thomas Aquinas heads to Manchester, N.H. on Saturday afternoon to take on Southern New Hampshire in a non-league match that begins at Noon.
