EASTON, Mass.-- Senior All-America Colby Confer (Madison, Conn.) netted six goals and junior Jenny McGrath (Milton, Mass.) tied a school record with six assists as top-ranked Stonehill presented Head Coach Michael Daly with his 100th career victory in an 18-5 Northeast-10 Conference women’s lacrosse triumph over Saint Michael’s Saturday afternoon at Chieftain Stadium.

The host Chieftains (15-0, 9-0 Northeast-10) extended their school record winning streak to 21 straight dating back to April 2004 and claimed their 47th straight Northeast-10 regular season triumph in the process, as Stonehill raced out to a 12-0 lead at the break in presenting the milestone win to Daly, who has posted a career mark of 100-22 (.819) in seven seasons. McGrath added two goals to her school-record assist performance to finish with eight points on the day for the Chieftains (now 60-1 all-time in conference play), while Confer added an assist to finish with seven points for the hosts.

Junior All-America Erin Acone (Bow, N.H.) netted four goals and an assist to finish the week with 20 points in three matches, while senior Brenna Newfell (North Billerica, Mass.) chipped in with a pair of goals and an assist for three points. Freshman Kristin Darrell (West Islip, N.Y.) added two markers on the day for Stonehill, which also received a goal each from senior Courtney Duggan (Billerica, Mass.) and sophomore Tracey Hoffman (Nashua, N.H.) as well as an assist from freshman Katie Gavin (Westwood, Mass.). The win enabled the Chieftains to clinch a tie for their seventh straight Northeast-10 regular season championship, as Stonehill wrapped up the top seed in the upcoming league championships, which begin on May 7th.

Freshman Brynne Curran (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) netted two goals in the setback for the visiting Purple Knights (5-4, 5-2 Northeast-10), who also received a goal and two assists off the stick of senior Lauren Piekarski (East Sandwich, Mass.). Junior Noreen Russo (Wilmette, Ill.) and freshman Amanda Soule (Hartland, Vt.) added single tallies on the day for Saint Michael’s, which saw its three-match winning streak come to an end, while sophomore Megan Lagasse (Newburyport, Mass.) chipped in with an assist.

Junior Lauren Stone (Guilderland, N.Y.) picked up her 13th win of the season in goal for Stonehill with three saves in 51 minutes of play, while sophomore Kara Conway (Winchester, Mass.) made one stop in nine minutes of action for the hosts. Senior Jess Anderson (Springfield, Vt.) made 10 saves in net for Saint Michael’s as the Chieftains outshot the Purple Knights by a 34-15 margin to pick up their ninth victory in 10 series meetings between the schools.

Stonehill hosts seventh-ranked Philadelphia University in a non-league match on Wednesday afternoon at Chieftain Stadium at 2:30 p.m., while Saint Michael’s travels to Smithfield, R.I. to take on Bryant in a Northeast-10 match on Sunday afternoon that begins at 1:00 p.m.
