NEW LONDON, N.H. (September 30, 2019) -  The Stonehill College women's golf team sits in third place in the team standings, just four shots off the pace, after the first round of the Penmen Fall Invitational, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University, on the 5,912-yard, par-72 layout at Lake Sunapee Country Club today.

Stonehill, which posted a program-best third place finish at its first tournament of the season in New York three weeks ago, sits third again in the seven team field after today's first round, trailing co-leaders Franklin Pierce University (318) and Southern New Hampshire University (318) by just four strokes heading into the final round on Tuesday. Stonehill's 322 team score is the lowest in the program's two-year history of team scores, improving on its previous low team round of 326 in the first round of the 2018 Penmen Columbus Day Invitational at Derryfield Country Club. The Skyhawks sit 15 shots ahead of fourth-place Assumption College (337). Franklin Pierce's Jinnapat Rittawee holds the individual lead after a four-over-par opening round of 76, a stroke ahead of Gabby Thomas from Southern New Hampshire (77).
