NE10 Golf All-Conference Honors Announcement

EASTON, Mass. (June 10, 2019) – Stonehill College freshman Sloane Van Zanen has made program history by becoming the first women's golfer to earn All-Northeast-10 Conference honors, as selected by the league's nine head coaches, the Conference announced today.

Van Zanen is the first Stonehill women's golfer to earn All-NE10 honors in the program's two-year existence since becoming the College's 21st intercollegiate sport in 2017. She earned All-NE10 second team honors following a freshman year in which she played all 17 rounds of competition for the Skyhawks in eight tournaments, posting an 83.29 stroke average. Van Zanen carded three rounds in the 70s for Stonehill this season, posting two top ten and four top 20 finishes over the course of her first collegiate season.

Van Zanen posted a season-best eighth place individual finish at the Penmen Columbus Day Invitational on October 6-7, carding back to back rounds in the 70s with an opening round 78 and a second round 79. She also finished tied for tenth overall at the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational on September 23-24 at 79-83=162, while posting a 15th place finish at the NE10 Championship in Albany, New York, on October 14-15 (82-87=169).

Stonehill women's golf wrapped up its second season this spring, marking the first year in which it fielded a full complement of five golfers to record team scores at its eight tournaments during the 2018-19 season. The Skyhawks finished fifth at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship in October, while posting a pair of fourth place team finishes at the Saint Rose Fall Invitational and Penmen Columbus Day Invitational. The Skyhawks 2019 fall schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
