Dapron Signs NLI to Play Women’s Golf at Stonehill

Dorset, Vermont, native to join Skyhawks for third varsity season this fall

EASTON, Mass. (May 23, 2019) –Stonehill College women's golf head coach Nick Crovetti has announced that Julia Dapron is the third member of the program's 2019 recruiting class to sign a National Letter of Intent (NLI) and will compete with the program starting in September.

Dapron joins Emily Kase, a North Tonawanda, New York, native and product of Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart, and Abby Jaye, from Hopkinton, Massachusetts, and Hopkinton High School in signing NLIs with the Stonehill women's golf program for the upcoming season.

Dapron, a native of Dorset, Vermont, is a three-time individual Vermont State Champion from Burr & Burton Academy, serving as captain her senior year. She helped lead the Bulldogs to a runner-up team finish at the state championships last fall. Dapron competed in the New England Golf Championship in Keene, New Hampshire all four years of her high school career and was Vermont's top finisher in 2018, earning an invitation to Nationals in Orlando, Florida, this summer. She earned Bennington Banner/Manchester Journal Regional All-Star Golfer of the Year honors in 2018 and 2019, and is a two-time Vermont Junior Amateur champion in 2017 and 2018.

Dapron is an 8.3 handicap golfer who has spent her summers competing in New England Junior PGA and Hurricane Junior Tour events. She carded a nine-over-par round of 80 in winning the Vermont State Championship her senior year and owns an 82.8 tournament scoring average. She is a member of Dorset Field Club and is the daughter of Randy and Jane Dapron of Dorset, Vermont.

Stonehill wrapped up its second season this spring, marking the first year in which it fielded a full complement of five golfers to record team scores at its eight tournaments during the 2018-19 season. The Skyhawks finished fifth at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship in October, while posting a pair of fourth place team finishes at the Saint Rose Fall Invitational and Penmen Columbus Day Invitational. The Skyhawks 2019 fall schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
