Women's Golf Finishes Strong at Assumption Spring Invite

Annarummo and Beaulieu finish tied for 17th overall

SUTTON, Mass. (April 14, 2019) -  The Stonehill College women's golf team capped its 2018-19 season with a strong bounce back day in the second round of the Assumption Spring Invitational, hosted by Assumption College, to finish sixth in the team standings on the 5,804-yard, par-72 layout at Blackstone National Golf Club today.

Stonehill cut 42 strokes off its first round score on Saturday, posting a 344 team score on Sunday to post a two-day total of 730 to move up one spot to sixth in the team standings. It marked the fifth-lowest team score of the day on Sunday. Franklin Pierce University took the team title with a two-day score of 642 (321-321), while Le Moyne College was second at 688 (343-345) and host Assumption third at 692 (350-342). Franklin Pierce's Sarah Daley rallied from two shots down to win the individual title with a two-day 11-over-par score of 155 (80-75), with her second round score the tournament-low round.

Freshmen Alexis Annarummo and Emma Beaulieu both bounced back from opening rounds in the 90s to shoot in the low to mid-80s on Sunday and spark the comeback. Beaulieu carded a second round 83 behind eight pars, shooting a three-over-par 39 on the front, for Stonehill's lowest round of the tournament. Annarummo posted an 85 with eight pars, and the duo finished tied for 17th overall with two-day scores of 176.

Freshman Sloane Van Zanen recorded a 90 for the second-straight day to finish 24th overall at 180. Sophomore Katelyn Jylkka showed the biggest improvement from Saturday, posting a second round 86, for a two-day score of 198 for 34th place, carding seven pars.

Annarummo finished tied for fourth in the field in par-3 scoring (3.38) – first among golfers not from winners Franklin Pierce. She also led Stonehill and was tied for 12th overall in par-4 scoring (4.90). Beaulieu and Van Zanen both led the Skyhawks and were tied for 13th overall in par-5 scoring (5.75), while Beaulieu was also ninth in the field with her 15 pars over the two days.
