Women's Golf Opens Spring Schedule in Arizona

Beaulieu cards 82 to lead Skyhawks for 21st in individual leaderboard

AVONDALE, Ariz. (March 16, 2019) -  The Stonehill College women's golf program opened its spring schedule with opening day action at the Southwest Minnesota State University Spring Shootout, hosted by the 5,801-yard, par-72 layout at Coldwater Golf Club, on Friday.

Freshman Emma Beaulieu led four Stonehill golfers in the 80s with her opening round  82, which puts her in 21st place on the individual leaderboard. Sophomore Katelyn Jylkka posted an 83 and is tied for 23rd, along with freshman teammate Sloane Van Zanen. Freshman Alexis Annarummo rounded out the Skyhawks four entries with an 87.

Beaulieu finished her round three-over-par on the course's par-4's, ranking tied for ninth in par-4 scoring. Jylkka carded 11 pars in her round, a total that sits fourth after the first round, just one out of the tournament lead. She finished the day 16th in par-5 scoring at two-over-par, and tied for 17th in par-3 scoring at +2. Van Zanen posted nine level par holes in her round, playing the par-5's at even par – tied for fifth after day one. Annarummo is tied for sixth in the field for par-3 scoring after the opening round at one-over-par.

Stonehill's 335 team score has the Skyhawks seventh in the team standings, nine shots behind sixth place Southwest Minnesota State. University of Nebraska-Kearney leads the team standings with a score of 306, followed by Lindenwood University (311) and Ottawa University of Arizona (318).

Day two of the SMSU Spring Shootout will start this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. (EDT).
