EASTON, Mass. (October 13, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's golf program, competing in just its second year after being added as the College's 21st varsity intercollegiate sport, will make more history this weekend, when it fields a full team at the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Golf Championship, hosted by The College of Saint Rose, at Capital Hills at Albany Golf Course on Sunday and Monday.

Stonehill, which made its debut at the NE10 Championship with three student-athletes competing as individuals last fall, will field a full team and post a team score for the first time at this year's Championship. The Skyhawks have been picked to place sixth as a team in the NE10's Pre-Championship Coaches' poll released this week. Stonehill received 22 points in the poll, which is led by three-time NE10 Champions Merrimack College with 48 points and six of the eight first place votes. Defending champions Franklin Pierce University is picked second with 44 points and the two remaining first place votes, followed by Southern New Hampshire University in third (34 points), Le Moyne College in fourth (33), and Assumption College (23) rounding out the top five. Host Saint Rose (11) and Adelphi University (9) round out the poll in seventh and eighth, respectively.

Stonehill, under the direction of second-year head coach Nick Crovetti, has increased its roster from three student-athletes a year ago to five this season. The Skyhawks have carded team scores for the first time this fall, opening with a fourth place finish at the Saint Rose Fall Invitational September 9 and 10, followed by a fifth place showing at the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational September 23-24 and then another fourth place finish at the Penmen Columbus Day Invitational last weekend. Stonehill has consistently lowered its team score over the first three tournaments, capped by a 326-330=656 last weekend.

Van Zanen has a pair of top tens and an 81.83 scoring average entering the NE10 Championships

Stonehill again fields a young team, with junior captain Jennifer Kornacki the lone upperclassman, with sophomore Katelyn Jylkka the only other returnee. Freshmen Alexis Annarummo, Emma Beaulieu and Sloane Van Zanen have all made an immediate impact for the Skyhawks.

Beaulieu leads four Stonehill golfers with stroke averages in the 80s through the first six rounds of the year at 81.0, coming off a fifth place finish at the Penmen Columbus Day Invitational where she was one of two Skyhawks to record two sub-80 rounds, including a program-best 74 in the opening round. She has finished in the top ten each of the last two tournaments.

Van Zanen is just behind with an 81.83 stroke average, including a team-high three sub-80 rounds. She also scored in the 70s twice at the Columbus Day Invite, including a season-low 78 in the first round, and top ten finishes the last two tournaments. Annarummo, a transfer from Division I Siena College, has posted an 84.0 stroke average, including a season-best 80 in the first round of the Columbus Day Tournament. Jylkka rounds out the 80s averages at 89.5, including a career-best 78 in the second round of the Saint Rose Fall Invitational. Kornacki rounds out the Skyhawks with a 103.0 average this fall.

The NE10 Championship will get underway with first round play on Sunday starting at 10:30 a.m. Second round play commences on Monday at 9 a.m. Live results are available golfstat.com.

Following this weekend's NE10 Championship, Stonehill is schedule to round out its fall schedule on October 22 and 23, when it competes at the Music City Invitational, hosted by Trevecca Nazarene University, in Old Hickory, Tennessee.
