Women's Golf Finishes Fourth at Penmen Columbus Day Invitational

MANCHESTER, N.H. (October 7, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's golf team posted a fourth place team finish, led by a pair of top ten individual finishes, at the Penmen Columbus Day Invitational, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University, on the 5,852-yard, par-72 Derryfield Country Club as second round play concluded today.

Freshman Emma Beaulieu posted her first career top five finish, following up a program-low round of 74 on Saturday with a second-day 79 today for a program-best two-day score of 153 (+9). She added another birdie on the par-four tenth hole to her program-record three birdies on Saturday, finishing with ten pars on Sunday. Beaulieu finished the two-day event tied with medalist Krystal Knight of Merrimack College in par-4 scoring at 4.17 (+4), while finishing tied for second for birdies (four) and sixth in pars with a program-record 21.

Stonehill dipped one spot in the team standings, finishing fourth out of five teams at the event, posting a score of 330 today to go with Saturday's program-low 326 to finish with a program-best two-day score of 656 – 18 shots lower that its previous-low at the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational two weeks ago. Merrimack College won the team title with a two day score of 609 (300-309), followed by host Southern New Hampshire University (316-326=642) in second and Post University (332-313=645) who recorded the third-lowest team score of the weekend to move past the Skyhawks today. Stonehill finished ahead of Adelphi University (350-343=693). Knight took medalist honors with a one-under-par two-day score of 143 (70-73).

Freshman Sloane Van Zanen posted her second-straight top ten finish, matching Beaulieu's Sunday 79 for a two-day score of 157 (78-79), for a new two-day personal-best and finish eighth overall (+13). She joins Beaulieu in posting the first two sub-80 rounds at an event in program history, adding another birdie on the par-three 12th hole to her program-record three on Saturday, to finish the weekend a tournament-best three-under-par on the course's three par-3s (2.50 stroke average). Van Zanen was also tied for second for birdies and seventh in pars (20).

Freshman Alexis Annarummo finished 14th in the field of 33 golfers with a two-day score of 166 (80-86). She was one-under-par on the course's three par-5s for the weekend (4.83), ranking third overall. Sophomore Katelyn Jylkka trimmed eight shots off her Saturday score, carding one birdie on the par-five second hole, to finish with a two-day score of 180 (94-86) for 24th overall, while junior Jennifer Kornacki matched her season-low on Sunday in posting a two-day score of 199 (100-99).

Stonehill is back in action next Sunday and Monday, October 14 and 15, when it competes at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship, hosted by The College of Saint Rose, at Capital Hills at Albany Golf Course.
