Kornacki Caps Inaugural Women’s Golf Season with another Season-Low

Simsbury, Connecticut, sophomore betters Sunday's career-low by six shots, with 93 on Monday

ERIE, Pa. (April 23, 2018) – Stonehill College sophomore Jennifer Kornacki (Simsbury, Connecticut/Simsbury) closed out the inaugural women's golf season by recording a season-low round for the second-straight day at the Gannon Spring Invitational, hosted by Gannon University, on the 5,802-yard, par-72 layout at Lake Shore Country Club today.

Kornacki shaved six strokes off her previous season low round of 99 in Sunday's opening round, by carding a 93 today, to finish the two-day event with a score of 192 (99-93) and finish tied for 34th in the individual standings. The 93 matches the second-lowest round by a Stonehill women's golfer during its first season as she recorded five pars to score 48 on the front nine and then 45 on the back. In Sunday's first round, Kornacki collected two birdies, including a 110-yard hole-out on the 347-yard, par 4, fourth hole. She improved her score on the front nine today by five strokes and cut a stroke off her back nine score from Sunday.

Sara Suazo from California University of Pennsylvania finished atop the individual standings with a two-day score of 154 (77-77), finishing two strokes ahead of Manuela Quevedo from Gannon with a 156 (79-77) total. Mercyhurst University won the team title with a two-day score of 658 (330-328), finishing 22 strokes lower than Gannon (349-331=680).
