Stonehill grabbed two early leads after three-pointers by Carter (3-2) and Raymond (6-4) in the opening two minutes. Maine followed the Raymond triple with seven-straight points, including four by Millian to go with a Saar three-pointer to take a five point lead (11-6) with 6:20 left in the opening quarter. Carter answered with her second three of the opening frame, and the Skyhawks pulled back within a point (13-12) when O'Brien made one of two free throws with 3:36 left.

Maine closed the frame by scoring six of the last seven points to take a six point lead (19-13) into the second quarter. Stonehill was still within two (21-19) after a Raymond layup with 6:55 to play in the half, but the Black Bears followed by using a 13-1 run to open up a 14-point lead (34-20) after a Saar jumper with a minute left in the half.

Maine carried a 13-point lead (37-24) into halftime and then stretched that advantage to 18 (42-24) after a Wadling basket less than two minutes into the third quarter. Stonehill would not close within double-digits the rest of the way, cutting the gap to 13 (57-44) after a Shaw three-pointer 1:16 into the fourth resulting in the narrowest margin down the stretch.

Stonehill (0-0, 0-0 NE10) opens its 2019-20 season on Friday, November 8, against Daemen College at the Redhawks Tip-Off Classic, hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College, at 6 p.m. Maine (0-0, 0-0 AE) will host McGill University for one more exhibition next Sunday, November 3, at 2 p.m., before officially tipping its season off at the University of Delaware on Friday, November 8, at 2 p.m.
