EASTON, Mass. (March 10, 2019) – The Stonehill College women's basketball program has earned its 25th bid to the NCAA Division II Championships and are seeded sixth at the East Regional, which will be hosted by top-seeded University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, and will run Friday, March 15 through Monday, March 18.

Stonehill (19-9, 14-7 NE10), the defending NCAA East Region Champions, is back in the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight year and 25th time in program history. The Skyhawks are seeded sixth at the East Regional Championship this weekend at Bobby Morgan Arena on the campus of USciences. It marks the Skyhawks 12th NCAA bid in 18 seasons under the leadership of head coach Trisha Brown.

Stonehill's 25 NCAA Tournament bids are the fourth-highest total in Division II history, behind only rival Bentley University (35), Delta State University (27) and Cal Poly Pomona (26). The Skyhawks, winners of four of their last six, but looking to bounce back from a tough overtime setback to University of New Haven in the NE10 Quarterfinals, finished second in the NE10's Northeast Division standings. They will open the NCAA Tournament against No. 3 Jefferson University (29-2, 17-2 CACC), who earned an automatic bid as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tournament champions, on Friday.

The remainder of the East Regional first round games will feature No. 7 Saint Anselm College (19-9, 13-8 NE10) against No. 2 Bentley University (28-3, 20-1 NE10). Top-seeded and host USciences (29-2, 18-1 CACC) will face No. 8 NYIT (23-8, 12-6 ECC), the automatic qualifier from the East Coast Conference, and No. 4 Le Moyne College (24-5, 15-5 NE10), the automatic qualifier from the Northeast-10 Conference, facing No. 5 St. Thomas Aquinas College (26-4, 17-1 ECC).

Following Friday's first round matchups, the regional semifinals will be played on Saturday evening, with the regional championship slated for Monday night, March 18. The full East Regional schedule is expected to be released on Monday. Jefferson, Le Moyne and NYIT earned their Conference's automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament, while Stonehill, USciences, Bentley, St. Thomas Aquinas and Saint Anselm were all at large selections to the overall field of 64.

The winner of the East Regional will advance to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight, which will be held March 26-29 at Alumni Hall on the campus of Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio, for the national quarterfinals, semifinals and championship.
