EASTON, Mass. (March 4, 2019) – Stonehill College freshman Kayla Raymond has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Rookie of the Year by the league's 15 head coaches, highlighting a trio of postseason accolades for the first year standout, the league announced today.

In addition to becoming the eighth NE10 Rookie of the Year in Stonehill women's basketball history, Raymond earned a spot on the All-Northeast-10 second team and was selected to the NE10's All-Rookie Team by the coaches. She is Stonehill's first NE10 Rookie of the Year since recent graduate Samantha Hyslip, '18 in 2014-15, while joining Christine Donovan, '87 (1983-84), Katy Delaney, '90 (1986-87), Paula Kohs, '92 (1988-89), Sue Patchett, '97 (1993-94), Kristen McDonnell, '03 (1999-2000) and Kelsey Simonds, '10 (2005-06) in earning the honors from Stonehill as well.

Raymond is the first Stonehill freshman to earn All-NE10 honors, one of just nine in NE10 history, giving the program 48 All-Conference selections all-time. She is the Skyhawks eighth All-Rookie team selection sicne the program started in 2001-02, and its first since junior teammate Kelsey Shaw in 2016-17.

Raymond, who earned NE10 Rookie of the Week honors a program-record nine times this winter, has started 22 of her 24 games played for Stonehill and leads the team with 15.9 points per contest (9th NE10), shooting 48.8-percent from the field (15th), including 38.3% (36-for-94) from three-point distance (8th), and converting 81.1% (30-37) of her free-throws. She is also contributing 5.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.8 blocked shots (6th) and a steal in 23.6 minutes per game. Raymond's 382 points this season ranks fourth among Stonehill freshmen in program history, 68-points shy of Patchett who netted a program-record 450 points in her first collegiate season in 1993-94.

Stonehill is 10-5 when Raymond is its top scorer, scoring in double-figures in 20 of her 24 games played, including 13 of 15 to round out the regular season. She has been the Skyhawks top rebounder 11 times, with the team 9-2 in those games, and has produced 20-plus points seven times, including her first 30-point game when she scored a season-high 32 at Merrimack on February 20. Raymond's nine NE10 Rookie of the Week awards came on November 12 and 26, December 3 and 20, January 7 and 21 and February 4, 18 and 28, earning the recognition nine of the 14 weeks over the course of the regular season.

Stonehill (19-9, 14-7 NE10) earned the program's 38th trip to the NE10 Tournament, but now awaits word on a potential at large bid to the upcoming NCAA Division II Tournament, when the selection show airs on ncaa.com on Sunday at 10 p.m.
