Raymond Earns Seventh NE10 Rookie of the Week Award

EASTON, Mass. (February 4, 2019) – Stonehill College freshman forward Kayla Raymond has collected Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors for the seventh time this season, the league office announced today.

Raymond led Stonehill to a 64-59 victory at Pace University on Tuesday in her lone action of the week, setting the tone for a 2-0 week for the Skyhawks. She filled the boxscore with season-highs of 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists, while adding a blocked shot in the win, scoring 15 points in the second half as she finished 10-of-14 from the floor, draining her lone three-point attempt.

Raymond has started 15 of her 16 games played this season for Stonehill and leads the team with 15.6 points per contest (9th NE10), shooting 50.5-percent from the field (11th), including 40.8% (20-for-49) from three-point distance (7th), and converting 81.5% (22-27) of her free-throws. She is also contributing 5.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.9 blocked shots (6th) and a steal in 23.1 minutes per game.

Stonehill is 7-1 this season when Raymond is its top scorer, scoring in double-figures in 13 of her 16 games played, including six of the last seven, and leading the Skyhawks in rebounding eight times as well. She has produced 20-plus points five times after her season-best 23 points on Tuesday. Raymond previously earned NE10 Rookie of the Week honors on November 12 and 26, December 3 and 20 and January 7 and 21.

Stonehill, ranked No. 6 in this week's D2SIDA East Region rankings, is back in action on Wednesday, when it visits nationally-ranked Bentley University for the 110th chapter of one of the best small college rivalries in the country at 5:35 p.m. The game will be featured through the NCAA Division II Basketball Showcase and streamed live via the NCAA Division II and Stonehill Skyhawks Twitter and Facebook outlets, while being shown on tape-delay on NBC Sports Boston on Wednesday at 8 p.m., and Cox Sports TV on Saturday, February 9, at 11 p.m.

Stonehill closed out the week at regionally-ranked Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The Skyhawks return to Merkert Gym next Tuesday, February 12, to host Saint Michael's College at 5:30 p.m.
