Raymond Earns Fourth NE10 Rookie of the Week Award

EASTON, Mass. (December 20, 2018) – Stonehill College freshman forward Kayla Raymond has earned Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors for the fourth time this season, the league office announced today.

Raymond scored 14 of her season-high matching 22 points in the first half of Sunday's 74-54 win over Caldwell University in Stonehill's lone game of the week to wrap up the first semester schedule. Raymond finished shooting 9-for-15 from the floor, including 3-for-5 from three-point distance, while filling the box score with eight rebounds, a season-high four assists, season-best six blocked shots and two steals in 22-minutes of play. It marks her fourth 20-point game over the first 11 games of her collegiate career, having led the Skyhawks in scoring for the sixth time.

Raymond has started seven of her eight games played over the first 11 games of the season for Stonehill and leads the team with 17.6 points per game (4th NE10), shooting 52.8-percent from the field (11th), including 50% (15-for-30) from three-point distance (2nd), and converting 82.4% (14-17) of her free-throws (10th). She also contributes 5.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 2.1 blocked shots and 0.9 steals in 22.4 minutes per game (4th).

Stonehill, ranked fourth in this week's D2SIDA East Regional rankings, is 5-1 this season when Raymond is its top scorer. She has scored in double-figures in seven of her eight games played, also leading the Skyhawks in rebounding four times.

Stonehill, ranked No. 25 in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II poll and receiving votes in the D2SIDA Top 25 media poll, is off until after the holiday, when it will host its Holiday Classic at Merkert Gymnasium on December 29 and 30. Assumption College will face No. 9 University of the Sciences on Saturday at 2 p.m., followed by Stonehill against Molloy College at 4 p.m. The Skyhawks will battle USciences on Sunday at 3:30 p.m., following Molloy against Assumption at 1:30 p.m.
