Raymond and Bramanti combine for 38 points for Skyhawks

EASTON, Mass. (December 16, 2018) – Stonehill College, ranked No. 25 in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II poll and fifth in the D2SIDA East Region poll, was dominant in closing out its first semester schedule with a 74-54 victory over Caldwell University in non-conference women's basketball action on Paula Sullivan Court at Merkert Gymnasium this afternoon.

Freshmen Kayla Raymond and Emily Bramanti combined for 38 points with season-high performances to lead Stonehill to the win. Raymond scored 14 of her season-high matching 22 points in the first half, finishing 9-of-15 from the floor, including 3-for-5 from three-point distance, filling the box score with eight rebounds, a season-high four assists, season-best six blocked shots and two steals. Bramanti buried 4-of-6 three-pointers on her way to a season-high 16 points, including 12 in the first half, adding two boards, two assists and three steals off the bench.

Junior Gabrielle Reuter rounded out Stonehill's double-figure scorers with ten points, six rebounds and four assists, while classmate Grace Carter tallied seven points and five assists. Sophomore Jennifer Worden chipped in seven boards, six points and four assists.

Junior Tina Lebron led Caldwell with 13 points, connecting on 3-of-6 three-pointers, with two assists, while senior Kristen Siscamanis totaled ten points on 5-of-8 shooting, and seven rebounds. Senior Andie Lennon added seven points, four rebounds, four assists and two blocks, while freshman Ana Gonzalez Martin chipped in eight points off the bench.

Stonehill never trailed, scoring the first seven points of the game, sparked by a Worden three-pointer, on its way to a 14-point lead (24-10) after ten minutes of play. The Skyhawks lead was five (15-10) with 3:23 remaining in the opening quarter, before scoring the final nine points of the frame to open a double-figure lead it wouldn't relinquish the rest of the afternoon, spurred by seven points from Raymond.

Stonehill used a 12-1 run in the second quarter to turn a 13-point lead (26-13) into a 24-point margin (35-14) after a Raymond triple with 4:32 left in the first half. She had five more points during that run, while Bramanti buried a three as well. The Skyhawks lead stretched to 25 (46-21) after another Bramanti triple, before settling for a 23-point halftime advantage (46-23).

Stonehill extended its lead to a game-high 30 (55-25) two and a half minutes into the third quarter following back-to-back three-pointers from Carter and Raymond. The final 20-point margin would be the closest Caldwell would get the rest of the way.

Stonehill (9-2, 5-2 NE10) has the next two weeks off, before returning to action with its Holiday Classic here at Merkert Gym on December 29 and 30. The Skyhawks will face Molloy College on Saturday, December 29, at 4 p.m., after nationally-ranked University of the Sciences in Philadelphia faces Assumption College at 2 p.m. Caldwell (2-7, 2-0 CACC) visits Post University on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
