Raymond Named NE10 Rookie of the Week for Second Time

EASTON, Mass. (November 26, 2018) – Stonehill College freshman forward Kayla Raymond has earned Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors for the second time over the first three weeks of the season by the league office today.

Raymond led Stonehill, ranked No. 4 in this week's D2SIDA East Region poll, to a 2-0 week on the road against a pair of regionally-ranked opponents, by averaging 21 points per game on 62.5-percent shooting from the field (15-for-24), including 5-for-9 (55.6%) from three-point distance, while converting 7-of-8 (87.5%) free-throws. She also contributed seven rebounds and 1.5 assists per game for the week.

Raymond led four Stonehill players in double-figures in Tuesday's 74-65 win at Saint Anselm College, ranked sixth in the region, with 21 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including 2-for-5 from three-point range, while converting 7-of-8 free-throws, and adding a season-high nine rebounds, with two assists and blocked a shot. She posted her second-straight 20-point outing and third of the season overall in Sunday's 66-47 win at LIU Post, ranked fifth in the region, with a game-high 21 points, including 12 in the first half, on 9-of-12 shooting from the field, including 3-for-4 from three-point distance, adding five rebounds and an assist.

Raymond, who earned NE10 Rookie of the Week honors for the first time on November 12, scored a season-best 22 points in Stonehill's 63-44 win over Holy Family University on November 10. She has scored in double-figures in all five games she has played, with the three 20-plus point outings. Raymond has started all five games she has played this season, ranking seventh among NE10 scoring leaders with her team-high 18.2 points per game, while ranking fifth in field goal percentage at 55.6-percent, eighth in three-point percentage at 47.1-percent and eighth in free-throw percentage at 81.3% (13-for-16). She is also averaging 5.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 blocked shots per game, the latter of which is good for fifth in the NE10 in 24 minutes per contest.

Stonehill, ranked No. 22 in the most recent Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II poll and receiving votes in the D2SIDA Top 25 medial poll, returns to action on Wednesday, when it hosts Merrimack College for an NE10 matchup at Merkert Gymnasium at 5:30 p.m. The Skyhawks close out the week at Franklin Pierce University on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
