Hyslip and Walsh earn All-Conference honors for first time in career

EASTON, Mass. (February 24, 2017) – Two members of the Stonehill College women's basketball team have collected All-Northeast-10 Conference honors as selected by the NE10's 15 head coaches, the league announced today.
Juniors Samantha Hyslip (Westford, Massachusetts/Westford Academy) and Courtney Walsh (Windham, New Hampshire/Central Catholic) have both earned All-NE10 honors for the first time in their careers. The duo give Stonehill 48 All-NE10 selections all-time dating back to the league's first season in 1981-82.
Hyslip, the 2015 NE10 Rookie of the Year and an All-Rookie Team performer, collects her first All-NE10 selection with second team honors. She is one of just two Stonehill players to start all 25 games so far this season, leading the team with 14.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, while shooting a team-best 51.3-percent from the field and converting 76.4% (84-for-110) of her free-throws. She is also contributing 1.6 assists and nearly a blocked shot and steal per game, ranking second in the NE10 for field goal percentage, ninth in scoring and 16th in rebounding. She is also grabbing 2.8 offensive rebounds per game to rank ninth in the league.
Hyslip has led Stonehill in scoring 11 times this winter, netting double-figures 19 times, including six 20-point games. She scored a career-high 26 points against Merrimack College on November 22 and has recorded four double-doubles, pulling down double-figure rebounds six times, including a career-best 15 boards in a win over The College of Saint Rose on January 28.
Hyslip, who has earned a spot on the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll four semesters and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll two semesters for her efforts in the classroom, has started 47 of the 83 games she has played over her career. She has totaled 773 points, 487 rebounds, 104 assists, 42 steals and 36 blocked shots, shooting 48.2-percent from the field and 74.9% from the free-throw line for her career.
Walsh also earned All-NE10 honors for the first time in her career with third team honors. She started all 21 games before missing the last four to illness, leading the team in scoring at the time and averaging a Conference-high 3.3 three-point field goals per game – good for sixth nationally in Division II. She is now second on the team with 13.8 points per game, shooting 38.3-percent from beyond the arc (69-for-178) and converting 73.7% (14-19) of her free-throws, adding 2.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and a steal per game in 35.2 minutes per contest. Walsh is ranked tenth among NE10 scoring leaders, fifth in three-point percentage and third in minutes per game.

Walsh led Stonehill in scoring ten times this winter, netting double-figures 15 times with three 20-point games. She scored a career-high 24 points at Roberts Wesleyan College on November 18 and dished out a career-best six assists against nationally-ranked Bentley University on February 1, leading the Skyhawks in assists seven times.
Walsh, whose 69 three-point field goals this season ranks seventh on the program's single-season list, has started 50 of her 79 career games played. She has scored 604 points, netting 125 career three-pointers to rank tenth on the program's career list, with 162 rebounds, 160 assists and 60 steals. Walsh has connected on 34.5-percent of her career three-pointers (125-for-362) and 80.4% of her free-throws (45-56). She has been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester.
Stonehill (12-13, 11-10 NE10) is back in action tonight when it hosts Southern Connecticut State University for an NE10 Tournament first round matchup at Merkert Gymnasium at 7 p.m. Admission will be $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for students and senior citizens with college students from participating institutions with valid ID admitted for $1.00. The first 250 Stonehill students will be admitted free of charge courtesy of the College's Office of Student Affairs and the Athletic Department.
