EASTON, Mass. (February 12, 2016) – Stonehill College will host its annual Play 4Kay event this Saturday, February 13, during its Northeast-10 Conference basketball doubleheader with Assumption College in Merkert Gymnasium. The women's game tips off at 1:30 p.m., with the men's game to follow at 3:30 p.m.

Stonehill is one of approximately 2,000 schools and organizations committed to participating in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) Play 4Kay initiative this month. Play 4Kay is a global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The official dates for the 2016 event is February 12-22. The official charity is the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the WBCA and The V Foundation. Since the initiative's inception in 2007, Play 4Kay has raised over $5.18-million for breast cancer awareness and research.

On Saturday, Stonehill will accept donations to the Kay Yow Cancer fund and fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game and will be admitted to the games free of charge should they do so. Stonehill's women's basketball team will be wearing pink shoe laces and warm-ups. Fans can make donations throughout the ten day Play 4Kay initiative at www.play4kay.org and searching for Stonehill women's basketball. The fund is named after the late Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University head women's basketball coach, who passed away after her courageous 22-year battle with breast cancer.

The Stonehill women's basketball team (12-11, 7-10 NE-10) enters Saturday's game having won four of its last six despite a 61-56 setback to Merrimack College on Tuesday night. Saturday marks one of two remaining home games for the Skyhawks in the regular season as they look to clinch a spot in the Northeast-10 Tournament to begin at the end of the month. Stonehill currently sits in a tie with Southern New Hampshire University for the fifth and final tournament spot in the Northeast Division entering Saturday's game, two games behind Assumption and Franklin Pierce.
