Faieta Named to WBCA Coaches’ All-America Team

EASTON, Mass. (March 23, 2015) – Stonehill College senior forward Tori Faieta (Lynn, Massachusetts/Saint Mary's) has been selected to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Coaches' All-America Team it was announced prior to the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Elite Eight in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, tonight.

Faieta, who is a three-time All-Northeast-10 Conference selection and a Daktronics All-East Region pick, is the eighth All-American in program history and the first since Julie Stockwell, '00 earned Daktronics third team honors in 2000. Faieta is the program's first WBCA Coaches' All-America pick since Stockwell in 1999 and seventh overall. She is one of two Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes selected to the ten-person Coaches' All-America Team. Stonehill's list of women's basketball All-Americans all-time are: Mary Naughton, '89 in 1988, Michelle Doonan, '95 in 1994 and 1995, Suzanne Patchett, '97 in 1996 and 1997, and Stockwell and Faieta.

Faieta, who was a second team All-Northeast-10 selection her sophomore year, earned first team honors as a junior and again this season when she was one of two unanimous first team picks by the NE-10's head coaches. She started all 29 games for Stonehill and averaged a double-double with 15.4 points (8th NE-10) and 10.4 rebounds per game (2nd) to go with 1.9 assists and a Conference-high 2.1 blocked shots in 26.6 minutes per game. She shot 49.9-percent from the field (8th) for the year and leads the team with 15 double-doubles, having led the team in scoring 13 games and rebounding 25 times. Faieta ranks 12th nationally in Division II for defensive rebounds per game (8.0), 23rd for double-doubles, 25th for blocked shots and 32nd for rebounds per game.

Faieta, who earned Spalding NE-10 Player of the Week honors three times this season, averaged 14.7 points and 10.0 rebounds per game in Stonehill's 21 NE-10 contests, adding 1.9 assists and 2.3 blocks per game, with a .504 shooting percentage. She scored a career-high 27 points, including her 1,000th career point, in a 69-51 win over Caldwell University on November 15. Faieta was named to the All-Tournament team at the NCAA Tournament's East Regional last week after averaging 16 points and 11 rebounds in leading the Skyhawks to the regional championship game, adding three assists and 2.7 blocks per game and shooting 51.2-percent from the field.

Faieta finished her four year career at Stonehill ranked 13th in program history with 1,402 points, while her 215 career blocked shots rank second all-time and her 880 rebounds third in program history. Her 103 career games started ranks third all-time and her .497 field goal percentage fifth. Faieta's 302 rebounds this season rank second on the program's all-time single-season list (just ten shy of Patchett's single-season record of 312 in 1996-97), while her 10.4 rebounds per game finished just 0.1 shy of Stockwell's single-season mark of 10.5. Faieta's career-high matching 62 blocks this season is tied for third on the program's all-time single-season list, just 11 shy of Kelsey Simonds' 10 record of 73 in 2007-08. Faieta was named to the NE-10 All-Rookie team as a freshman and has earned NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status five semesters and Athletic Director's Honor Roll one semester for her performance in the classroom.

Stonehill finished its 2014-15 season with a 24-5 record overall, including an 18-2 mark in the Northeast-10 to win the Northeast Division Championship. The Skyhawks, ranked 13th in the final regular season USA TODAY Sports/Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II poll, earned the 23rd NCAA bid in program history, advancing to the East Regional Championship for the eighth time in program history.
