Faieta Collects Second-Straight Spalding NE-10 Player of the Week Award

Lynn, Massachusetts, senior earns honors for fourth time in her career 

EASTON, Mass. (November 24, 2014) – Stonehill College senior forward Tori Faieta (Lynn, Mass./Saint Mary's) has been named the Spalding Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for women's basketball for the second-straight week by the league office today.

Faieta, who also earned NE-10 Player of the Week honors after the opening weekend of the season last week, collects the award for the fourth time in her career after leading Stonehill to a 2-0 week with a pair of road wins to open its Conference schedule. She averaged a double-double with 22.5 points and ten rebounds per game, while shooting 69-percent (20-for-29) from the field, including 3-for-6 (50%) on three-pointers, to go with three blocked shots, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game over the two games. Faieta scored 17 of her game-high 25 points in the first half of Saturday's 81-67 victory at No. 3/5 Bentley University on 11-of-15 shooting, to go with a team-high eight rebounds, a season-best five blocked shots and two assists. She opened the week with her third straight double-double (18th career) in Wednesday's 74-69 win at Merrimack College as she posted game-highs of 20 points and 12 rebounds to go with three steals as she made 9-of-14 shots from the field, including 6-for-7 in the first half.

Faieta leads the Northeast-10 in scoring through the first two weeks of the season, averaging 22.8 points to go with 12 rebounds (5th NE-10), 1.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.2 blocked shots (2nd) in 25 minutes per game. She is shooting 60-percent from the field (3rd) for the season so far, leading a Skyhawks team that is shooting a Conference-best 47.5-percent as a team.

Faieta, a two-time All-Northeast-10 Conference selection who earned first team honors as a junior, has started 78 of 88 games played over her career and totaled 1,045 points and 626 rebounds. She is shooting 50.5-percent from the field for her career, blocked 162 shots and contributed 151 assists and 49 steals. Faieta ranks 26th in program history for scoring, 15th in rebounds and third in blocked shots. She earned All-NE-10 second team honors as a sophomore and was named to the NE-10 All-Rookie team as a freshman, earning NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status four semesters.

Stonehill (4-0, 2-0 NE-10), which is ranked first in this week's D2SIDA East Regional poll, is among teams receiving votes in the USA TODAY Sports/Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II preseason poll as well as last week's D2SIDA Top 25 poll. The Skyhawks are back in action tomorrow night when it hosts Franklin Pierce University, ranked fifth in the D2SIDA regional poll, on Paula Sullivan Court at Merkert Gymnasium at 5:30 p.m.
