#7 Stonehill Triples Up Concordia, 96-37

Pelletier leads Skyhawks three-point barrage with 18 points 

WORCESTER, Mass. (November 16, 2013) – Stonehill College, ranked 7th in the USA TODAY Sports Division II preseason coaches' poll, drained 15 three-pointers and raced to a 96-37 victory over Concordia (N.Y.) College in non-conference women's basketball action on day one of the Assumption College Tip-Off Classic at Laska Gymnasium this evening.

Junior Amy Pelletier (Beverly, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) led the three-point shooting Stonehill effort with a game-high 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting from beyond the arc to go with three assists and a steal in just 19 minutes of play. Senior Mary Louise Dixon (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) added 17 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including 3-for-5 from three-point range, converting all six free-throws to go with six assists, five rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot in 22 minutes. Junior Tori Faieta (Lynn, Mass./St. Mary's) notched her first double-double of the season (eighth career) with 13 points and a season-high ten rebounds, connecting on 9-of-10 free-throw attempts to go with two blocks, two assists and a steal.

Freshman Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) led Concordia with nine points, four rebounds and a steal.

Stonehill finished shooting 43.1-percent (28-for-65) from the field, including 15-for-33 (45.5%) from three-point range, collecting assists on 24 of its 28 field goals, while converting 86.2% (25-29) of its free-throws. The Skyhawks finished with a 59-34 rebounding advantage and outscored Concordia 21-6 in points off turnovers. The Clippers were held to 24.2% (16-66) shooting, including 1-for-21 (4.8%) from long distance.

Stonehill scored the first nine points of the game, with a pair of three's from Pelletier to go with a Dixon triple, on its way to a 14-2 lead following a third Pelletier three five minutes into the game. The Skyhawks scored 30 of the game's first 34 points over the opening ten minutes and were never threatened, taking a 62-18 halftime lead. Stonehill shot 55.6% (20-36) over the opening 20 minutes, burying 10-of-18 (55.6%) three's, and making 12-of-14 (85.7%) free-throws. Dixon and Pelletier both finished the half with 12 points.

Stonehill (2-1, 0-0 NE-10) is right back in action tomorrow for day two of the Classic when it squares off against Caldwell College (0-2, 0-0 CACC) at 1:30 p.m. The Cougars dropped a 64-51 decision to host Assumption in tonight's second game. The Skyhawks finally opens its home schedule on Wednesday when it hosts Merrimack College for their Northeast-10 Conference opener at Merkert Gymnasium at 5:30 p.m. Concordia (0-4, 0-0 CACC) will face Assumption tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.
