Biddeford, Maine, native earns honors for second-straight year with selection to College Division second team by CoSIDA
Rousseau earns Academic All-District honors for the second-straight year with her selection to the second team after earning third team status as a junior. She is one of four Northeast-10 student-athletes selected to the three teams and has earned a 3.64 cumulative grade point average while majoring in finance at Stonehill. Rousseau is also an NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Department Honor Roll member and was voted to the NE-10 Academic All-Conference team last winter.
Rousseau, a two-time All-Northeast-10 selection with first team honors as a junior and second team as a sophomore, has started all 13 games played so far for the Skyhawks this season and is averaging team-best 17.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 34.2 minutes per game. She is shooting 40.2-percent (82-for-204) from the field and has converted 88.2-percent (45-of-51) of her free-throws – including a streak of 35-straight at one point this season. Rousseau has led Stonehill in scoring eight times this season, scoring a career-high 34 points in the Skyhawks 78-60 victory at Molloy College on November 14. She earned All-Tournament team honors at the Stonehill Tip-Off Classic, November 19-20.
Rousseau, who transferred to Stonehill from the University of Maine after her freshman season, has surpassed a pair of 1,000-point plateaus over the course of her collegiate career. She netted her 1,000th career point, including her 187 points scored as a freshman at Maine, in a win at Southern New Hampshire University on February 20, 2010. She became the 25th player in Stonehill women's basketball history to reach the milestone earlier this season with her 25 points at Merrimack College on November 23.
In 86 games played in nearly three full seasons at Stonehill, Rousseau has totaled 1,099 points, 281 rebounds, 330 assists and 100 steals. Including her 23 appearances (16 starts) at Maine in 2007-08, she has totaled 1,286 points, 350 rebounds, 376 assists and 117 steals in 109 career games played. Rousseau was a two-time America East Rookie of the Week at Maine and has earned NE-10 Player of the Week honors twice since joining Stonehill. She was voted to the Daktronics All-East Region second team and earned All-Championship Team honors at the NE-10 Tournament last winter.
Stonehill (14-7, 9-7 NE-10), ranked eighth for the second-straight week in the NCAA Division II East Regional rankings, is back in action on Saturday when it hosts the University of Massachusetts Lowell for its WBCA Pink Zone event in Merkert Gymnasium at 1:30 p.m. Fans who join in raising breast cancer awareness by wearing pink to the game will receive free admission. Donations will be accepted in the Merkert Gym lobby throughout the afternoon, and fan contributions and a portion of ticket sales will benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, the WBCA's charity of choice in support of breast cancer awareness and research. Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for students and senior citizens, and free for Stonehill students when presenting their "Hill Card" and children under 12.
