EASTON, Mass. (April 18, 2019) – Stonehill College's men's 4x100-meter relay was named the Northeast-10 Conference's Relay of the Week by the league office after its standout performance over the weekend.

The Stonehill men's 4x100-meter relay of senior Joe Connolly, junior Justin Ireland and sophomores Desmond Bernal and Ethan Famiano combined for the first time and turned in a strong debut performance at the Ocean State Invitational, hosted by Brown University and Providence College, at Brown Stadium on Saturday. The team finished second as the only non-division I program out of four entries in a season-best 42.57-seconds, less than a second off school-record pace and marking the fourth-fastest time for the event in the NE10 this spring.

Bernal ran the opening leg, followed by Ireland and then Famiano, before Connolly took the baton for the anchor leg. It marked a strong debut for this relay that included three returnees, along with Famiano who was running the event for the first time in his collegiate career.

Bernal earns NE10 Relay of the Week honors for the first time this season and fourth time in his career overall, picking up back-to-back accolades with the 4x100 last year. Connolly picks up Relay of the Week honors for the third time this year, also earning NE10 Track Athlete of the Week accolades once, giving him NE10 weekly honors for the fifth time. Ireland earns NE10 Relay of the Week honors for the third time in his career, all with the 4x100, with his first award this season, while Famiano is part of an NE10 Relay of the Week honor for the first time.

Stonehill is back in action on Saturday, when it competes at the Holy Cross Invitational, hosted by College of the Holy Cross, in Worcester, Massachusetts, starting at 11 a.m. Stonehill will host its annual Skyhawk Invitational next Saturday, April 27.
