Famiano Leads Men's Track & Field on Day 2 of 54th Colonial Relays

Warwick, Rhode Island, leads group of three top five finishes

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 5, 2019) – The Stonehill College men's track and field program turned in three top five finishes to highlight its first day competing at the 54th Colonial Relays, hosted by College of William & Mary, at Zable Stadium today.

Sophomore Ethan Famiano won the 110-meter high hurdles for the second-straight week, posting a time of 15.30-seconds to lead the list of 31 entries. Junior Collin Kuchachik finished 23rd in 16.31-seconds.

Senior Xavier Young placed second overall out of 32 entries and first among collegiate throwers in the shot put with a distance of 48-feet, 10.25-seconds.

Senior All-American Lucas Taxter turned in a fourth place finish in the 1500-meter run in a field of 80 competitors in 3:52.50. Fellow senior All-American Alex Demeule finished 34th in the event in 3:58.53, while classmates Christopher Drace and Riley Dowd placed 50th and 63rd, respectively, with Drace clocking in at 4:04.60 and Dowd posting a time of 4:11.75.

Senior Joe Connolly placed eighth out of 67 entries in the 100-meter dash in 10.907-seconds. Junior Justin Ireland was 13th with a time of 11.06-seconds, while turning in a 15th place finish out of 53 in the 200-meter dash in 22.33-seconds, with Connolly 21st in that event in 22.49.

Stonehill finished the first full day of the Colonial Relays with three points, good for 25th place in the championship team standings. Bucknell University leads the way with 35 points, while Saint Francis University is second with 34 points. 

Other Stonehill Results Include: 

Freshman Jack Bowers finished 18th out of 54 entries in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.26-seconds. 

Junior Christopher Lanahan placed 33rd out of 66 runners in the 800-meter run in 1:58.78. Senior Matthew Shaw took 42nd in 1:59.46. 

Junior Jeremy Breen placed 36th out of 74 competitors in the 400-meter dash in 50.49-seconds. 

The 54th Colonial Relays will continue with third day action at Zable Stadium starting at 8:30 a.m. Stonehill will host its annual Skyhawk Invitational on Saturday, April 27.
