Senior All-American provisionally qualifies for NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday

EASTON, Mass. (January 15, 2019) – Stonehill College senior All-American Lucas Taxter has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week by the league office today.
Taxter made his indoor debut at the Beantown Challenge, hosted by Harvard University, on Saturday and provisionally qualified for March's NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas, with his second place performance in the one mile run. He ran a time of 4:10.69 to finish second to UMass Lowell's Paul Hogan (4:10.03), which marks the second-fastest mile in the NE10 this season and currently ranks eighth overall in Division II. Stonehill was the only non-Division I program to compete at Harvard on Saturday.
Taxter earns NE10 Athlete of the Week honors second time this year, having earned the recognition during the cross country season, and third time in his career overall, with he second selection for indoor track and field. He earned All-America honors as part of Stonehill's 4000-meter distance medley relay last winter, helping the relay post a fifth place finish at the NCAA Championships in a school-record 9:49.12, adding a second career All-America honor with his program-record 19th place finish at the NCAA Championships in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, last month. He is a seven-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region performer, six-time All-NE10 and four-time All-New England performer over his career as well.
Stonehill is back in action on Saturday, when it competes at the Sorlein Invitational, hosted by the University of Rhode Island, at 11 a.m.
