Skyhawks relay earns weekly honor for second-straight week

NE10 Track & Field Weekly Report

EASTON, Mass. (April 26, 2018) – Stonehill College's men's 4x100-meter relay team has earned Northeast-10 Conference Relay of the Week honors for the second straight week by the league office.

Stonehill's 4x100-meter relay repeats NE10 Relay of the Week honors after finishing second as the only non-Division I program at Saturday's Holy Cross Invitational, hosted by College of the Holy Cross, in Worcester. The Skyhawks inched even closer to a school-record with a season-best time of 42.16-seconds – 0.07 shy of the program record and good for third on the NE10's outdoor performance chart. Freshman Desmond Bernal (Warwick, Rhode Island/Bishop Hendricken) ran the lead leg for Stonehill and then handed the baton to sophomore Justin Ireland (Norton, Massachusetts/Norton) for the second leg, with senior All-American Joshua Hubbell (Gloucester, Massachusetts/St. John's Prep) running the third leg before junior Joe Connolly (Wilmington, Massachusetts/Austin Prep) completed the anchor leg.

The 4x100 is the fourth Stonehill relay to collect NE10 Relay of the Week honors this year. Stonehill's 4x400-meter relay, which included Hubbell and Bernal, earned the honors on December 6, while the 4000-meter distance medley relay received the recognition twice on January 24 and February 8.

Stonehill is back in action on Saturday, when it hosts its 11th annual Skyhawk Invitational at W.B. Mason Stadium. Senior Day recognition at W.B. Mason Stadium will start at 10 a.m., with field events commencing at 10:30 a.m., with track events getting underway at 11:30 a.m.
