EASTON, Mass. (April 5, 2017) – The Stonehill College men's 4x800-meter relay team was recognized for a strong performance at the 52nd Colonial Relays over the weekend by earning Relay of the Week honors from the Northeast-10 Conference.

The Stonehill 4x800 relay team finished fifth in the field of 18 teams competing at the Colonial Relays at College of William & Mary on Saturday with a time of 7:45.11 – over 14-seconds faster than any of the three 4x8's run in the NE10 so far this spring. The Skyhawks were the first non-Division I program to finish the relay, which was won by Fordham University in 7:43.02. Running for Stonehill was senior Duncan Burleigh (Hingham, Massachusetts/Hingham) for a 1:56.5 split on the lead leg, followed by sophomore Alexander Demeule (Merrimac, Massachusetts/Pentucket Regional) for a 1:56.1 split on the second leg, before sophomore Riley Dowd (Peabody, Massachusetts/Peabody Veterans Memorial) completed the third leg in 1:57.8 and then sophomore Stephen Vercollone (Pembroke, Massachusetts/Pembroke) ran the anchor leg in 1:53.6.

Burleigh, Dowd and Vercollone were all also part of Stonehill's All-New England 4x800 relay team during the indoor track & field season in February. Vercollone was also a USTFCCCA All-Region performer for the indoor 800-meter run, also earning All-New England status for the event.

Stonehill is back in action on Saturday when it competes at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts, starting at 10 a.m. Stonehill, which is the host of the 2017 NE10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 5-6, will host its home Skyhawk Invitational on Saturday, April 29, at 10:30 a.m.
