Wilcox Finishes Third in 10,000m to Lead Stonehill at New England Outdoor Championships


Senior Bryan Wilcox earned All-New England honors for the second time in his career for the 10,000-meters on Friday.

Wilcox posts personal-best in final collegiate run for Skyhawks 

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (May 8, 2015) – Senior Bryan Wilcox (Plantsville, Connecticut/Southington) earned All-New England honors in the 10,000-meter run for the second time in his career to highlight Stonehill College's performances on day two of the 2015 New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, at Henry G. Steinbrenner Stadium today.

Wilcox earned All-New England honors for the fourth time over his outstanding collegiate career, finishing third out of 29 qualifiers in the 10,000-meter run. He finished in a personal-best 30:58.99, just over eight seconds shy of the school record, posting his second All-New England performance for this event after a second place finish in 2013 (32:02.05).

Senior All-American Teague Grubel (Phoenix, Arizona/Shadow Mountain) narrowly missed qualifying for tomorrow's 200-meter dash final, finishing 13th out of 30 entries in a season-best 22.22-seconds. Grubel also placed 23rd in the 100-meter dash in 11.09-seconds.

Freshman Anthony Innamorati (Clinton, Massachusetts/Clinton) placed 13th out of 21 competitors in the pole vault when he cleared a height of 13-feet, 11.25-inches. Innamorati won the Northeast-10 pole vault championship at last weekend's NE-10 Outdoor Championships. Classmate Stefan Balestra (Lincoln, Rhode Island/Lincoln) placed 15th out of 23 qualifiers in the hammer throw with a distance of 152-feet, 1-inch to conclude the Skyhawks competing in field events on Friday.

Sophomore Joe Santo (Newburyport, Massachusetts/Newburyport) finished 23rd out of 31 runners in the 5000-meter run with a personal-best time of 15:20.75. Senior Robert Smith (Woburn, Massachusetts/Woburn Memorial) placed 24th out of 33 New England qualifiers in the 400-meter hurdles with his time of 56.49-seconds, while sophomore All-American Matt Baldasare (Mansfield, Massachusetts/Mansfield) finished 24th out of 30 entries in the 400-meter dash prelims with a time of 50.57-seconds.

Stonehill will return to MIT on Saturday for day two of the New England Championships at Steinbrenner Stadium.
