Harwinton, Connecticut, freshman pole vaulter earns weekly honors for second time

EASTON, Mass. (February 27, 2015) – Stonehill College freshman Dillon Neumann (Harwinton, Connecticut/Lewis Mills) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Field Rookie of the Week by the league office.

Neumann, who earns Field Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season, earned All-Northeast-10 honors in helping Stonehill to a third place team finish at the NE-10 Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston on Saturday. He posted a second place finish in the pole vault at his first collegiate championship meet by clearing a height of 13-feet, 5.25-inches. Neumann matched the winning height by Chris Bohi of Franklin Pierce University, but was placed second on attempts to clear the height.

Neumann, who also earned NE-10 Field Rookie of the Week honors following his second place finish in the pole vault (13-05.25) at the season-opening UMass-Boston Opener, competed at four events during Stonehill's indoor season. In addition to the pole vault, he also ran the 60-meter high hurdles in his freshman season, clocking a personal-best time of 9.20-seconds in the finals at the Tufts Invitational. He also posted his personal-best height of 13-feet, 7.25-inches in the pole vault to place sixth overall at that meet, earning him the top seed for the NE-10 Championships.

Neumann was named to both the NE-10 Commissioner's and Athletic Director's Honor Rolls for his performance in the classroom during the fall semester.

The Stonehill men's track & field program, ranked third in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II East Regional rankings, is back in action this weekend at the New England Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Boston University, at the BU Track & Tennis Center on Friday and Saturday.
