Staley collects fourth-straight NE-10 Field Rookie of the Week award
Grubel named NE-10 Track Rookie of the Week for third time in four weeks

Grubel, who has been named the NE-10 Track Rookie of the Week for the fourth time overall and third time over the last four weeks of the outdoor season, placed fourth (out of 30 sprinters) in the 100-meter dash at Sunday's Brown Springtime Open with his time of 11.12-seconds.

Grubel was part of two event wins and three top two finishes overall at the Skyhawk Invitational this spring, posting season-best times in all three events. He won the 100-meter dash in 10.89-seconds and also posted a second place finish in the 200-meter dash with his time of 22.22-seconds. Grubel ran the third leg on Stonehill's 4x100-meter relay team that raced to a first place finish in 42.61-seconds.

Grubel and the 4x100-meter relay team have won two events after placing first at the George Davis Invitational at UMass Lowell the week prior (42.69). He won the 200-meter dash at the Reggie Poyau Invitational, hosted by Brandeis during the indoor season, with a time of 23.64-seconds, and his season-best time came at the New England Championships at 22.55-seconds to place 22^nd. He posted a season-best time of 6.68-seconds in the 55-meter dash final at the New Hampshire Tri-Meet in January and his season-best 60-meter dash time of 7.26-seconds was good for 12^th at the Charley Torpey Memorial at Rhode Island. Grubel is also a member of the football team at Stonehill.

Staley, who has also earned NE-10 Field Athlete of the Week honors once this spring, has now been named the NE-10 Field Rookie of the Week each of the last four weeks and eight times overall during his first indoor and outdoor seasons at Stonehill. He placed second in the high jump at the Brown Springtime Open and improved his NCAA provisional qualification standard with a leap of 6-feet, 11-inches. Staley also competed in the Eastern Section of the 117^th Penn Relays on Friday and placed 17^th with a height of 6-feet, 5-inches.

Staley now ranked 11^th in Division II for the high jump with his performance on Sunday as he and junior All-America teammate Corey Thomas (Brookline, Mass./BC High) have swept the top two spots in the event in three of the last four events. Staley won the high jump at the George Davis Invitational on April 7, with a winning height of 6-feet, 8.75-inches and has provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships next month in Pueblo, Colo. His height on Sunday bettered his leap of 6-10.75 at the Skyhawk Invitational on April 14. He has also competed in the long jump and 200-meter dash during his first outdoor season, posting a season-best distance of 20-feet, 5.75-inches to place eighth for the long jump at the Skyhawk Invitational.

Staley earned All-East Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following his first collegiate indoor season in the high jump with his season-best leap of 6-feet, 10.25-inches at the Charley Torpey Memorial Invitational that provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships and finished ranked 17^th nationally. He also earned All-New England honors with his fourth place finish at the New England Championships (6-8.25). Staley also posted a pair of first place finishes in the high jump during the indoor season at the Reggie Poyau Invitational (6-8) at Brandeis and Jay Carisella Invitational (6-9.75) at Northeastern to go with two other second place showings.

Stonehill, ranked third in this week's USTFCCCA East Regional rankings index, opens its championship season this weekend with the Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Southern Connecticut State University, in New Haven, Conn., on Friday and Saturday.
