Distance Runners Compete at Larry Ellis Invitational

Polito and Penney compete in 5000-meters, Hanlon in 800-meters for Skyhawks 

PRINCETON, N.J. (April 20, 2012) – Three members of the Stonehill College track and field team, ranked fourth in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II East Regional rankings index, competed at the Larry Ellis Memorial Invitational, hosted by Princeton University, at Weaver Stadium tonight.

Senior Stephen Polito (Worcester, Mass./Doherty Memorial) and junior Ethan Penney (Haverhill, Mass./Haverhill) both competed in the 5000-meter run and finished in 52nd and 66th place, respectively, in the field of 105 runners. Polito finished in 14:41.67, while Penney completed the run in 14:52.10 and both runners placed eighth in their sections.

Junior All-American Sean Hanlon (Georgetown, Mass./St. John's Prep) finished second in his section and placed 44th overall in the 800-meter run with his time of 1:53.20.

The remaining members of the Stonehill team will be in action on Saturday at the Holy Cross Crusades in Worcester starting at 11 a.m.
